The process whereby text is displayed above a stage in a theatre or opera house to provide the audience with information about the performance or a translation of the dialogue.

CONT

Surtitling(or supertitling) began rather slowly for opera in the West in the 1980s but by 2000 was standard practice in many opera houses because it is democratic and, crucially, now easy to accomplish. The translation of drama is a deeply complex enterprise but with surtitles a further burden is placed on the translator by the need for instant communication with the spectator. One of the most stringent criteria is length. At two lines of about forty characters for each title, space is at a premium, forcing the translator to look for a highly concise means of expression.

Biliopancreatic diversion is primarily a malabsorptive procedure. The standard procedure involves the removal of part of the stomach(a limited horizontal gastrectomy) to limit oral intake and induce weight loss. The gastric pouch that is created is larger than that of gastric bypass or the restrictive procedures, therefore allowing larger meals, and patients remain on a less restricted diet than would the case following gastric bypass. Part of the small intestine is also bypassed by the construction of a long limb Roux-en-Y anastomosis with a short common "alimentary" channel of 50 cm length.

Titrage. Opération qui consiste à mesurer le titre d'un fil. Cette mesure doit être réalisée avec des précautions relatives au conditionnement de la matière. Lorsqu'elle s'effectue à partir d'enroulements (cônes, bobines...) elle nécessite un dévidoir et une balance de précision. Dans le cas où le titrage se fait à partir des fils détricotés. on pourra utiliser le maille-mètre; ce choix est judicieux puisque la même mesure de longueur servira à la fois à la mesure de la serre du tricot et à la détermination du titre des fils constituants. Ce cas d'analyse est très fréquent, notamment pour traiter le problème de la reproduction d'un échantillon donné. (Les défauts des Tricots, p.14).

Wind erosion models have been used to assess policy impacts on soil erosion, but validation of models has been difficult until recently. We evaluated the Environmental Policy Integrated Climate(EPIC) wind erosion submodel by comparing simulation results to field measured wind erosion sediment losses. Using standard model inputs and actual wind velocities, wind erosion was simulated for a field near Lethbridge, Alberta where field measurements of wind erosion were made in April 1992 on a Dark Brown Chernozemic soil. The EPIC submodel predicted erosion losses for each day that erosion was measured, and approximated the magnitude of erosion on 6 of the 7 erosion events. EPIC significantly overestimated erosion for one event and also simulated erosion on 3 days when no erosion was recorded. Field length had a larger effect on simulation results during large erosion events than for smaller events. The effect of surface soil water content on wind erosion appeared to be captured by the model, but only limited data were available to evaluate this aspect. Other portions of the model such as the effects of surface roughness and vegetative cover could not be evaluated in this study.
