Pit sawing operations have a long and vibrant history. Well before circular saws were used to saw logs lengthwise, they were processed by placing them over a "pit"-hence the reference to "pit saw. "The saw operates vertically up and down. Operated by two men, a man on top, known as the "Top Dog", guided the saw as it was pulled down in a cutting motion by the "Underdog. "The "Top dog" recovered the saw and the "Underdog" then pulled it down in a cutting motion again. Needless to say the "Underdog" copped a fair bit of sawdust. The top of the saw has a fixed "tiller handle" so the topdog can guide it and cut a straight line. The lower part of the saw has a "block" which is easily detachable with a wedge. The block can be taken off to allow the saw to be threaded through the saw cut. 1, record 34, English, - tiller%20handle

The wings on most modern-day airplanes are equipped with control devices not only to steer the airplane, but also to improve its flying capabilities at specific times, particularly during landing and takeoff. Devices such as slotted wings and flaps increase lift when an aircraft requires it the most.... The design feature generally known as the slotted wing is a long slot that runs lengthwise along the wing, either at the leading edge of the wing or at its trailing edge. It creates greater lift, but also increases drag. It was invented nearly simultaneously in three different places by two individuals working independently in Germany and also by a research team in the United Kingdom. 2, record 40, English, - slotted%20wing

Pit sawing operations have a long and vibrant history. Well before circular saws were used to saw logs lengthwise, they were processed by placing them over a "pit"-hence the reference to "pit saw. "The saw operates vertically up and down. Operated by two men, a man on top, known as the "Top Dog", guided the saw as it was pulled down in a cutting motion by the "Underdog". The "Top dog" recovered the saw and the "Underdog" then pulled it down in a cutting motion again. Needless to say the "Underdog" copped a fair bit of sawdust. The top of the saw has a fixed "tiller handle" so the topdog can guide it and cut a straight line. The lower part of the saw has a "block" which is easily detachable with a wedge. The actual formation of a woven fabric begins with the weave, that is, the third element in the process. Weave is the system of interlacing lengthwise yarns("ends") with crosswise filling yarns("picks"). While there are many varieties of weaves, all are developed from the three basic weaves : plain, twill, and satin. Plain weave is simply "one up and one down. "... Among heavy plain weave fabrics are cotton ducks.... Sheeting and fine-combed cottons such as lawns, airplane and balloon cloth, and typewriter ribbon fabric are other examples of plain weave fabrics. 1, record 61, English, - plain%20weave%20fabric

... the Blended-Wing-Body(BWB) concept represents a potential revolution in subsonic transport.... In this study, 800 passenger BWB and conventional airplanes were compared for a 7000 nautical mile design range. ADP-class engines were used with technology levels keyed for a 2015 entry into service(EIS). In every measure, the BWB was found to be superior to the conventional configuration. Key findings for the BWB include : TOGW 15% lower[;] OEW 12% lower [;] Fuel-Burn 28% lower [;] Thrust 27% lower [;] L/D 21% higher [;] DOC 13% lower [. ] The BWB advantage results from a double-deck cabin that extends spanwise as well as lengthwise providing structural and aerodynamic overlap with the wing. This reduces the total wetted area of the airplane and the deep stiff centerbody provides efficient structural wingspan. Relaxed static stability allows optimal span loading, and a trailing-edge high-lift system is not required. Further synergy may be realized through buried engines that ingest the centerbody's boundary layer and thus reduce the effective ram drag. 2, record 82, English, - blended%2Dwing%2Dbody%20project

Regardless of the style, all heads can be fitted with parison programming. A parison programmer is a device that can change the gap or relationship between the head tooling die and mandrel while the parison is extruded. Thus, the wall thickness of the parison is changed and becomes ringed with sections of thinner and thicker material. These "rings" are located to correspond to specific sections of the bottle or blow-molded part where the part thickness may be too thin or too thick. For many blow-molded parts, parison programming has the potential of reducing part weight and cost while improving performance and strength. 3, record 95, English, - parison%20programming
