A sensor made up of a linear detector array of CCDs (Charge Coupled Devices) that obtains data in the platform’s direction of motion (azimuth or along-track dimension). 2, record 3, English, - along%2Dtrack%20scanner
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Along-track scanners also use the forward motion of the platform to record successive scan lines and build up a two-dimensional image, perpendicular to the flight direction. However, instead of a scanning mirror, they use a linear array of detectors located at the focal plane of the image formed by lens systems, which are "pushed" along in the flight track direction(i. e. along track). These systems are also referred to as pushbroom scanners, as the motion of the detector array is analogous to the bristles of a broom being pushed along a floor. 3, record 3, English, - along%2Dtrack%20scanner

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
3, record 3, French, - dispositif%20de%20balayage%20longitudinal
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 OBS
4, record 3, French, - dispositif%20de%20balayage%20longitudinal

In facsimile, the diode sensor array uses a stationary configuration of tiny photodiodes arranged in a matrix that equals in width one lateral scan line of a document. An original is rollerfed from a flatbed tray and passes by the sensor array one line at a time. Light is reflected from each line and focused through a lens onto the face of the photodiode array. Each diode acts as an independent photosensor in converting a small picture element into part of the total electrical signal for a scan line. 1, record 6, English, - photodiode%20sensor%20array%20scanner
