Telescopes, binoculars, and cameras need solar filters for two reasons :(1) to protect them from intense sunlight and heat and(2) to ensure that you don’t accidentally look at the Sun through an unfiltered instrument. In every case, the solar filter must be attached to the front of your telescope, binoculars, or camera lens. This ensures that the Sun's light and heat are kept out of the optics.

Color printing filters. These are types of color compensating filters made of acetate instead of glass or gelatin. They are used in the filter drawer of the enlarger, not under the lens.

It is desirable for the enlarger to have provision for placing the filter pack between the lamp and the negative. Color printing(CP) filters(acetate) are recommended for use in this position. If the filters are placed at the lens, color compensating(CC) filters(gelatin) are recommended.
