Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
A new approach to aquatic ecosystem analysis is suggested in which [the] top-down reductionist approach is replaced by a bottom-up approach using autonomous agents(programs to represent individual animals). This approach is exemplified by... an artificial life system designed... for modeling population behavior and evolution. 1, record 1, English, - bottom%2Dup%20modelling%20approach
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
[The] "bottom-up" approach to the generation of complex behavior is more powerful and simple than that generated by conventional system models, which are constructed in top-down fashion. The behavior of the fish school as a whole does not depend on the internal details of the entities from which it is constructed. It depends only on the details of the way in which these entities behave in each other’s presence. ... it is possible to capture within an aggregate of artificial entities a very lifelike behavior. 1, record 1, English, - bottom%2Dup%20modelling%20approach

The application of nanoscale scientific concepts and principles to the study of biological and biomedical structures and systems. 5, record 2, English, - nanobiology
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Nanobiology combines the ideas and theories of nanoscience and the materials and tools of nanotechnology with those of biology at the nanoscale(10[ to the minus 9 power] meters) level. The ability to observe, analyze, understand, and eventually manipulate biological systems at the sub-cellular and even molecular scales holds great promise for various branches of biology(for example, biochemistry, molecular, sub-cellular and structural biologies) and opens the way for important scientific contributions ranging from the development of new bio-imaging devices and sensors to the synthesis and characterization of novel bionanomaterials to advances in the theory, modeling and simulation of diverse nanoscale biological and fundamental life processes. 6, record 2, English, - nanobiology

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
4, record 2, French, - nanobiologie

[Even] when we want to deceive ourselves it's difficult because inflation is such an in-our-face part of everyday life. It's almost like when your best friend gives birth to an ugly baby. You lie and tell her that the kid is beautiful, hoping that some day he will be. But the parents aren’t blind, and they know the kid isn’t going to be supporting the family by modeling anytime soon. [Inflation] is a funny thing. Like the ugly baby, you can deny its existence even as it is goo-gooing you in the face.
