Canadian public libraries have been providing information, education, and recreation to Canadians for over a century and a half. Today they are defining new roles for themselves as economic incubators, community development agents, distributors of electronic information, and centres for life-long learning. The purpose of LibraryNet is to encourage the growth of these new roles and to help Canadian libraries connect to the information highway and to one another.
