Technique used to prepare an enzyme electrode which uses a magnetic enzyme-containing membrane. Decarboxylases (enzymes which release carbon dioxide from carboxylic acids) specific for the amino acids tyrosine, phenylalanine, and lysine are used to make enzyme electrodes specific for each of these amino acids. A decarboxylase is cross-linked with an inert protein such as albumin, and magnetic ferrite particles are entrapped within the membrane structure. Glutaraldehyde is used to cross-link the proteins.

Mechanical properties of the membrane are similar to those of cellophane and the enzymic activity is stable for weeks. The presence of the magnetic particles makes it possible to attach the enzyme-containing membrane to a CO2-sensitive electrode bearing a cylinder magnet. The decarboxylase membrane is situated on the outer surface of the gas-permeable membrane. The same technique was used to prepare the first enzyme electrode using two different enzymes which react in a coupled sequence, with the second reaction providing a detectable species.

Électrobroche à paliers hydrostatiques : Le principe de cette technologie est de transmettre la charge à travers un film de lubrifiant dont la pression est maintenue par l'intermédiaire d'une pompe extérieure; la principale différence par rapport au guidage à billes est qu'il n'y a jamais de contact entre les surfaces puisque la présence du film lubrifiant est assurée même pour une vitesse de rotation nulle. The hard-disk drive is a wonder of modern technology, consisting of a stack of disk platters, each one an aluminum alloy or glass substrate coated with a magnetic material and protective layers. Read-write heads, typically located on both sides of each platter, record and retrieve data from circumferential tracks on the magnetic medium. Servomechanical actuator arms position the heads precisely above the tracks, and a hydrodynamic air bearing is used to "fly" the heads above the surface at heights measured in fractions of microinches.
