MAGNETIC GUN [6 records]

Record 1 2013-10-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Vacuum Tubes (Electronics)
  • Electromagnetism
  • Television (Radioelectricity)
DEF

The moving of the electron beam by means of a magnetic field produced by a coil around the neck of the cathode-ray tube.

CONT

Magnetic deflection of the electron beam can be used instead of electrostatic deflection. A magnetic deflecting field is established in the tube just past the electron gun to react with the magnetic field associated with the electron-beam current, producing a force that deflects the electrons at right angles to both the beam-current axis and the deflection field.

OBS

Linear motion is produced by a sawtooth current through the coil.

Domaine(s)
  • Tubes et lampes (Électronique)
  • Électromagnétisme
  • Télévision (Radioélectricité)
CONT

Record 3 2005-06-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Guns (Land Forces)
  • Advanced Technology Weapons
DEF

[A] device designed to launch small projectiles at high velocities by converting electrical energy into kinetic energy.

CONT

The Defense Department is exploring the hypervelocity electromagnetic rail gun. The rail gun uses an extremely powerful magnetic field to launch projectiles at speeds of miles per second.

Key term(s)

  • electro-magnetic rail gun
  • electro-magnetic launcher

Campo(s) temático(s)
  • Cañones (Ejército de tierra)
  • Armas de tecnología avanzada
OBS
