Embedded GPS INS. The EGI is in an all-attitude navigation system providing outputs of linear and angular acceleration, velocity, position, attitude(roll, pitch, and platform azimuth), magnetic and true heading, altitude, time tags, and time. When installed in the host platforms in the appropriate configuration, the system provides the navigation functions of the equipment it replaces. It uses vehicle electrical power(28 Vdc), turn-on and mode commands, initialization data, and altitude data, as well as Global Positioning System(GPS) satellite inputs for GPS or GPS/Inertial Navigation System(INS) operation, and is able to track five space vehicles simultaneously. 1, record 1, English, - all%2Dattitude%20navigation%20system

The gyrosyn compass system incorporates a flux valve that senses the earth's magnetic lines of force through electromagnetic induction. They induce a voltage in the coils of a sensing unit in the flux valve. Dead reckoning is a technique of computing the position of a vehicle from its distance and heading measurements. It is an inertial system which uses two independent sensors from which distance and heading information can be extracted. Because each position is relative, cumulative drift errors occur on an average of 2% of the distance traveled. The system consists of a magnetic compass or gyroscope for heading and odometer for distance. Dead reckoning is often combined with map matching to correct for drift errors. It performs well when combined with highly accurate digital maps. It can also be used to back up GPS during satellite visibility outages. 3, record 5, English, - cumulative%20drift
