Transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS) is a noninvasive method to cause depolarization or hyperpolarization in the neurons of the brain. TMS uses electromagnetic induction to induce weak electric currents using a rapidly changing magnetic field; this can cause activity in specific or general parts of the brain with little discomfort, allowing for study of the brain's functioning and interconnections.

An electromagnetic coil is held against the forehead and short electromagnetic pulses are administered through the coil. The magnetic pulse easily passes through the skull, and causes small electrical currents that stimulate nerve cells in the targeted brain region. And because this type of pulse generally does not reach further than two inches into the brain, scientists can select which parts of the brain will be affected and which will not be.

The gyrosyn compass combines the functions of both the directional gyro and the magnetic compass. It provides stable compass headings in rough air, is north seeking like a magnetic compass, but is free from northerly turning error and oscillation. A family of motors in which a permanent magnet replaces the stator winding.

In some small PM DC motors, the rotor is still fed by a conventional brush-and-commutator system. A more important type of PM motor has a stator with three windings producing a rotating field, as in induction and synchronous motors. The rotor consists of one or more permanent magnets that interact with the rotating field so as to align the poles in the rotor with the poles of the rotating field. The speed of the motor is the speed of the rotating field. Because there is no rotor current and the rotor magnetic field is constant, there are no losses in the rotor, helping to make PM motors more efficient... that induction motors.

As the container and cap pass under the induction coil, a varying magnetic field heats the aluminum foil, which melts the wax and polymer, sealing it to the lip of the container. Thus, the innerseal leaves an hermetic layer of foil and polymer coating on the top of the bottle. If the foil seal is broken, any tampering is immediately apparent to the consumer.
