gyromagnetic compass: A directional gyroscope whose azimuth scales is maintained in alignment with the magnetic meridian by a magnetic detector unit.

CONT

The gyrosyn compass combines the functions of both the directional gyro and the magnetic compass. It provides stable compass headings in rough air, is north seeking like a magnetic compass, but is free from northerly turning error and oscillation. It does not precess and, therefore, does not require resetting as does the directional gyro. The gyrosyn compass system incorporates a flux valve that senses the earth's magnetic lines of force through electromagnetic induction.

En associant ces deux instruments, on obtient un compas gyromagnétique qui fournit une indication de cap tout en étant stable. [...] Les compas gyromagnétiques se composent d'un conservateur de cap avec un système d'érection en site, d'un élément détecteur de la composante horizontale du champ magnétique terrestre, d'un système détecteur d'erreur qui compare en permanence le cap gyro et le cap magnétique.

A family of motors in which a permanent magnet replaces the stator winding.

OBS

In some small PM DC motors, the rotor is still fed by a conventional brush-and-commutator system. A more important type of PM motor has a stator with three windings producing a rotating field, as in induction and synchronous motors. The rotor consists of one or more permanent magnets that interact with the rotating field so as to align the poles in the rotor with the poles of the rotating field. The speed of the motor is the speed of the rotating field. Because there is no rotor current and the rotor magnetic field is constant, there are no losses in the rotor, helping to make PM motors more efficient... that induction motors.

The most common form of a PM motor is the brushless DC motor, also known as an electronically commutated motor (ECM).

Le principe de la résonance magnétique repose sur le fait que lorsqu'un moment magnétique situé dans un champ magnétique est soumis à une excitation magnétique périodique, son comportement n'est influencé par l'excitation que si celle-ci à une fréquence bien déterminée. Cette perturbation affecte le comportement électromagnétique de l'échantillon étudié et peut être mesurée. On obtient alors une courbe de variation appelée raie de résonance. La mesure directe de la résonance magnétique a été améliorée à l'occasion des études sur les radars pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Lévitation magnétique [...] - rotation: il est possible de faire léviter un objet avec des aimants fixes. Un exemple en est le lévitron : il s'agit d'une toupie aimantée qui est en lévitation au-dessus d'une base aimantée. En fait, le lévitron peut être considéré comme une sorte de corps diamagnétique : par rotation, on stabilise la direction du moment magnétique dans l'espace (on a un gyroscope magnétique) et on place cet aimant dans un champ magnétique anti-parallèle.
