Researchers identify coercive controlling violence by the pattern of power and control in which it is embedded... The Power and Control Wheel... provides a useful graphical representation of the major forms of control that constitute coercive controlling violence : intimidation; emotional abuse; isolation; minimizing, denying, and blaming; use of children; asserting male privilege; economic abuse; and coercion and threats... Abusers do not necessarily use all of these tactics, but they do use a combination of the ones that they feel are most likely to work for them. Because these nonviolent control tactics may be effective without the use of violence(especially if there has been a history of violence in the past), coercive controlling violence does not necessarily manifest itself in high levels of violence. 3, record 4, English, - coercive%20controlling%20violence

Apnea, obstructive and central, also has been associated with aspiration of gastric contents. Laryngospasm is manifest as obstructive apnea secondary to reflux. Classically, obstructive apnea occurs within 1 hour after a feed when a patient suddenly stops, becomes apneic, stares, and develops a rigid opisthotonic posture. Continued ineffective respiratory effort is observed, but coughing or gagging is not necessarily present. If this progresses, pallor, cyanosis, and possible hypotonia ensue. The complete obstruction of the larynx impedes air movement, causing an obstructive picture. 6, record 15, English, - obstructive%20apnea

The concept of perfection is fundamental to the scheme of the [Personal Property Security] Act. It is a term of art used to define the time when the secured party has obtained the greatest bundle of rights under the statute with respect to the collateral. These rights are manifest in the Act in the form of priority rules concerning competing claims in the same collateral.(Richard H. McLaren, Personal Property Security : An introductory Analysis, 5e éd., 1992, Carswell, pp. 3-3, 3-4.) 2, record 34, English, - perfection

To complete a distress a seizure of the chattels is necessary. A seizure may be either actual or constructive. It is actual by laying hands on the article, or on one of several articles, and claiming to detain it or them until the rent is satisfied. The most proper manner of making a distress is for the person distraining to go upon any part of the premises out of which the rent issues and take hold of some personal chattel declaring that it is taken as a distress in the name of all goods, or of so much as will satisfy the rent in arrear, and this will be a good seizure of all. No particular form of words is, however, necessary provided the intention is manifest.(13 Hals., 4th, pp. 155-156) 1, record 57, English, - actual%20seizure

An agreement or contract to sell is transformed into an agreement of sale when the purchaser assumes liability for the purchase price and responsibility for any breach of the contract. Thus, in addition to the well-known formal "long form" agreement of sale, a contract for the sale of land will include the following :(1) a deposit receipt sufficiently certain as to terms;(2) an offer to purchase if duly accepted and such acceptance communicated; the offer, of course, must manifest an intention, in the case of acceptance, to create the relationship of vendor and purchaser between the parties;(3) the so-called interim receipt or agreement, or offer to purchase, or agreement of purchase and sale, adopted by the various local and provincial Real Estate Boards.(Di Castri, 2nd ed., 1976, p. 3). 1, record 59, English, - agreement%20of%20purchase%20and%20sale

After outlining the concepts of the social division of labor and social solidarity, Durkheim turned his attention to the question of how social cohesion and social solidarity manifest themselves in different societies. This cohesion, he thought, can be expressed in two very broad and distinct ways, and the terms he used to designate these two broad systems of social solidarity are "mechanical" and "organic. The X-Men are a fictional Marvel Comics superhero team. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, they debuted in the X-Men n° 1, published in september 1963. The central theme of the series is that the X-Men are superheroes who acquired their powers from birth rather than through incident or design(similar to the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and Captain America). Most of them are initially teenagers who learn how to use their powers at a special school run by Professor Charles Xavier(though the "school" takes the feel of a military academy given that the X-Men's powers are used mainly for conflict and are often sent into battle). The X-Men are fictitious mutants who, as a result of a sudden leap in evolution, are born with latent superhuman abilities that generally manifest themselves at puberty. 1, record 73, English, - X%2DMen

Subchromosal genome rearrangements in cancer and alu-family DNA repeats. Evidence are accumulating suggesting existence in cancer cells of subchromosomal genome rearrangements, deletions and amplifications, covering up to several hundreds kb which are not followed by visible chromosome aberrations. Such interstitial micro-deletions and amplifications(IMDA) were found in leukemias and in solid tumors of different origin and they possibly manifest early changes in neoplasias which may be useful in diagnostics. In acute leukemias we have detected variations in localization of Alu clusters in chromosomes 1, 3, 6, 8 and 14 probably associated with IMDA but the role of Alu repeats in the promotion of these variations remains unclear. 1, record 75, English, - ALU%20family

NIST [National Institute of Standards and Technology] researchers have implemented a novel approach to cavity ring-down spectroscopy(CRDS) using pulsed lasers. The ring-down method exploits the finite lifetime of light within an optical resonator, which is manifest as an exponential decay of the photon flux exiting the cavity. This lifetime measurement can be used to determine the presence of trace quantities of gaseous molecules, because the photon lifetime decreases as a result of light absorption within the cavity. 2, record 77, English, - lifetime%20measurement

Socioeconomic drought is what happens when physical water shortage starts to affect people, individually and collectively. Socio-economic Drought Perspective. Not all water shortages are manifest in ways that impact people. A socio-economic perspective does not recognize drought until it tangibly effects peoples’ lives in terms of their behavior and options(e. g., water rationing, increased prices, or lost recreational opportunities) or depressed earning power(in particular reduced agricultural income which may trickle down and adversely affect through other industries, thus increasing regional financial stress). 1, record 90, English, - socio%2Deconomic%20drought
