1, record 1, French, - analyse%20microbienne

Two decades of culture-independent studies have confirmed that microbial communities represent the most complex and concentrated pool of phylogenetic diversity on the planet. There remains a need for innovative molecular tools that can further our knowledge of microbial diversity and its functional implications. We present the method and application of serial analysis of ribosomal sequence tags(SARST) as a novel tool for elucidating complex microbial communities, such as those found in soils and sediments. Serial analysis of ribosomal sequence tags uses a series of enzymatic reactions to amplify and ligate ribosomal sequence tags(RSTs) from bacterial small subunit rRNA gene(SSU rDNA) V1-regions into concatemers that are cloned and sequenced. 2, record 2, English, - serial%20analysis%20of%20ribosomal%20sequence%20tags

3, record 2, French, - analyse%20s%C3%A9ri%C3%A9e%20d%27%C3%A9tiquettes%20de%20s%C3%A9quences%20ribosomiques

The intestinal microbes are taxonomically complex and constitute an ecologically dynamic community(microbiota) that has long been believed to possess a strong impact on human physiology. Furthermore, they are heavily involved in the maturation and proliferation of human intestinal cells, helping to maintain their homeostasis and can be causative of various diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and obesity... Through metagenomic analysis, it is now possible to comprehensively explore the genetic nature of the intestinal microbiome, the mutually interacting system comprising the host cells and the residing microbial community. 1, record 3, English, - human%20intestinal%20microbiome

Space microbiology studies may be divided into three major categories, each of which will be discussed in light of the current stage of knowledge in that field. The first involves analysis of samples collected outside the Earth's biosphere. The second includes the many studies in which pure cultures of terrestrial microorganisms were evaluated either during or after exposure to components of the spaceflight environment. The third category contains studies of the autoflora of crew members and the microbial load of recoverable spacecraft components which were performed to evaluate changes in populations of microorganisms. 2, record 4, English, - space%20microbiology

SPI, or Sediment Profile Imagery, is an innovative and cost efficient method of surveying and/or monitoring lake or marine aquatic environments with a view to establishing the environmental status of these habitats or as part of a site suitability study.... SPI is based on single lens reflex(SLR) camera photography and computer-based image analysis which greatly accelerates the time required to write reports and provide relevant data to the client/legislator in a matter of weeks. SPI technology can readily quantify over 20 physical, chemical and biological parameters including : sediment grain size; prism penetration; surface pelletal layer; sediment surface relief; mud clasts; redox area; redox contrast; current apparent redox boundary; relict redox boundaries; methane gas vesicles; apparent faunal dominants; voids; burrows; surface features(e. g. worm tubes, epifauna, shell) ;dredged material; microbial aggregations; and successional stage. 1, record 5, English, - sediment%20profile%20imagery

The application of confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM) has provided a powerful non-destructive method to biofilm research. CLSM application to biofilm work... enabled complex microbial communities to be visualised in-situ revealing their most intricate architecture and organisation without disruption caused by fixation. One major advantage of applying CLSM to biofilm study is its ability to obtain optical thin sections of fully hydrated biofilms. CLSM coupled with fluorescence methods and image analysis provides images with better resolution thus giving more information pertaining to biofilm composition. 3, record 6, English, - optical%20thin%20section

2, record 6, French, - section%20optique%20mince
