A polymicrobial infection is a complex situation that involves two or more microorganisms and a host. This system is influenced by microbial population dynamics; interspecies microbial interactions that result in competition, cooperation, or neutrality; and interactions with the host immune system, including immune modulation or manipulation. 2, record 1, English, - polymicrobial%20infection

2, record 1, French, - infection%20polymicrobienne

The human lower intestine is populated by an enormous number of microbes... These microbes are separated from the rest of the body by only a thin layer of cells and mucous lining the intestinal tract. As long as the intestinal microbial population does not penetrate the intestinal barrier, they coexist in relative harmony and in fact play a valuable role in digestion and processing of essential nutrients. It is believed that our commensal intestinal population is kept in place, in part, by the extremely active mucosal immune system present in the intestinal lining. 2, record 6, English, - mucosal%20immune%20system

The intestinal microbes are taxonomically complex and constitute an ecologically dynamic community(microbiota) that has long been believed to possess a strong impact on human physiology. Furthermore, they are heavily involved in the maturation and proliferation of human intestinal cells, helping to maintain their homeostasis and can be causative of various diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and obesity... Through metagenomic analysis, it is now possible to comprehensively explore the genetic nature of the intestinal microbiome, the mutually interacting system comprising the host cells and the residing microbial community. 1, record 7, English, - human%20intestinal%20microbiome

1, record 13, French, - production%20de%20la%20L%2Dm%C3%A9thionine
