processed microfilms are right reading when the direction of the light passing through the film is from the outside toward the center of the reel. If the supply reel of processed microfilm has a round spindle hole, the film should unwind downward from the right-hand side when the round hole is toward the observer.

The COM operator mounts the reel of tape to be converted. He then inserts a forms overlay(transparent copy of the form being processed) into the machine and locates the proper routine to be used by the machine to process the particular document. Throughout the processing, the COM operator observes the work and reacts to various indicators on the operator's console. As the recorded information is read and transmitted to the COM unit, microfilm images are produced. PACAR
