Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Rayleigh scattering of sunlight from particles in the atmosphere is the reason why the light from the sky is blue. The amount of Rayleigh scattering that occurs to a beam of light is dependent upon the size of the particles and the wavelength of the light; in particular, the scattering coefficient, and hence the intensity of the scattered light, varies inversely with the fourth power of the wavelength, a relation known as the Rayleigh law. 3, record 2, English, - Rayleigh%20scattering

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
3, record 2, French, - diffusion%20de%20Rayleigh

Radiation may be scattered by its transmission through a medium containing particles. If the scatter results in no significant change in the wavelength relative to the primary radiation it is called elastic scattering. In cases where the scattering centres are small compared to the wavelength of the radiation the elastic scattering is called Rayleigh scattering and Mie scattering if this condition is not fulfilled. 2, record 3, English, - elastic%20scattering

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 3, French, - diffusion%20%C3%A9lastique
