Unlike most other mammals, lagomorphs (including domestic rabbits) produce two types of droppings, fecal pellets (the round, dry ones you usually see in the litterbox) and cecotropes. The latter are produced in a region of the rabbit’s digestive tract called the cecum, a blind-end pouch located at the junction of the small and large intestines. The cecum contains a natural community of bacteria and fungi that provide essential nutrients and may even protect the rabbit from potentially harmful pathogens. 3, record 5, English, - cecotrope
Record number: 5, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The rabbit consumes the cecotropes as they exit the anus. The cecotropes are nutrient packed, dietary items that are essential for the rabbit's health. Normal cecotropes are dark, greenish-brown and resemble tightly bunched grapes. Each cecotrope is a soft, shiny pellet covered with mucus, and pressed into an elongated mass. They have a strong odor and contain massive amounts of beneficial bacteria that when ingested are re-established in the caecum. 4, record 5, English, - cecotrope

2, record 15, French, - cancer%20de%20l%27endom%C3%A8tre

The inner surface of the stomach is lined by a mucous membrane known as the gastric mucosa. The mucosa is always covered by a layer of thick mucus that is secreted by tall columnar epithelial cells. Gastric mucus is a glycoprotein that serves two purposes : the lubrication of food masses in order to facilitate movement within the stomach and the formation of a protective layer over the lining epithelium of the stomach cavity. This protective layer is a defense mechanism the stomach has against being digested by its own protein-lyzing enzymes, and it is facilitated by the secretion of bicarbonate into the surface layer from the underlying mucosa. 3, record 16, English, - gastric%20mucosa

LBC is a new method of cervical cell sample preparation. Samples are collected [in a similar way to the standard Pap smear], but using a brush-like device rather than a spatula. The head of the device is rinsed or broken off into a vial of preservative fluid so that most or all of the cervical cells are retained. Samples are transported to the laboratory where they are mixed to disperse the cells. Cellular debris, such as blood or mucus, is removed and a thin layer of cervical cells is deposited on a microscope slide, which is then stained. 2, record 38, English, - liquid%2Dbased%20cytology

3, record 40, French, - infection%20%C3%A0%20Haemophilus%20influenzae

As ovulation approaches, the glands of the cervix under the influence of estrogen secrete a progressively more abundant amount of thin, watery, lubricative... mucus. Spinnbarkeit is the name given to the ability of the mucus to stretch, while "peak symptom" describes the consistency of the mucus. Typically, ovulation occurs then or within a day or two before or after the peak symptom and maximum spinnbarkeit. This is the case of couples simultaneously suffering, for example, irregular ovulation, sperm in which the concentration of mobile spermatozoa is low, or couples combining Fallopian tubes damages(but not occluded) by a previous genital infection, and poor cervical mucus quality, etc. In such cases we can speak of subfertility. These situations are more frequent than sterility which explains why pregnancies may occur spontaneously, possibly after many years of waiting. These hypofertile couples may also remain childless for ever if the time needed to achieve pregnancy proves longer than the time they have available(especially as a result of diminished fertility in women beyond a certain age). 4, record 51, English, - subfertile

The airways of the respiratory tract are lined with tall, columnar, ciliated epithelium dotted with mucus-secreting cells. In a healthy body, constant ciliary activity moves the overlying blanket of mucus upward. This important cleansing mechanism is called the muco-ciliary elevator. 1, record 77, English, - mucociliary%20elevator
