Sur le marché actuel les trois espèces suivantes : plie canadienne, plie rouge et limande à queue jaune, sont confondues dans un même ensemble dont généralement plus de 90% est constitué de plie canadienne. En conséquence, il est recommandé d'utiliser la dénomination plie canadienne pour cet ensemble.
