MUSCLE POTENTIAL [8 records]

Record 1 2026-06-01

English

Subject field(s)
  • Rehabilitation (Medicine)
  • Muscles and Tendons
  • Nervous System
CONT

Muscle–tendon vibration(MTV) was first introduced as an experimental tool to probe proprioception and neuromuscular physiology by mechanically stimulating muscle proprioceptors through a cyclic stretching of the muscle–tendon complex.... When applied continuously over several minutes, MTV often induces a reduction in maximal voluntary force, along with decreased spinal excitability and increased cortical activity... Repeated exposure over days or weeks has also been shown to improve strength, postural control and functional capacity in both healthy individuals and clinical populations(e. g., stroke or neurological disorders), highlighting the potential of MTV in rehabilitation and performance contexts...

Key term(s)

CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electrodiagnosis
  • The Heart
DEF

The making of graphic records of the variations in electrical potential caused by electrical activity of the heart muscle and detected at the body surface, as a method for studying the action of the heart muscle.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Électrodiagnostiques
  • Cœur
DEF

CONT

Dantrolene causes skeletal muscle relaxation through a direct effect on the muscle. This action appears to be due to a reduction of calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum in response to the muscle action potential.

CONT

DEF

The general outline of the muscle formation of a livestock carcass.

OBS

Although muscle depth is now included in the grading formula, its influence is minor. Because of this, a very large difference in muscling would be required to affect carcass index, therefore, the drawbacks of selecting for increased muscling are greater than the potential benefits.
