Desmin is a muscle-specific protein and a key subunit of the intermediate filament in cardiac, skeletal and smooth muscles. Desmin filaments are mainly located at the periphery of Z-disk of striated muscles and at the dense bodies of smooth muscle cells, and they have been postulated to play a critical role in the maintenance of structural and mechanical integrity of the contractile apparatus in muscle tissues. 2, record 1, English, - desmin

3, record 5, French, - titine

ST muscle fibers function primarily for endurance. They contract at relatively low speeds and are primarily used during typical low-to moderate-threshold endurance-type activities. Thses muscle fibers have the ability to use fat, glucose(glycogen), lactic acid and protein(to an extent) as their fuel sources. These fibers have a large number of mitochondria(fuel-processing plant) giving rise to their endurance nature. Slow-twitch fibers are recruited first, are relatively fatigue resistant, and have a relatively low force output per cross-sectional area... 3, record 7, English, - slow%2Dtwitch%20muscle%20fiber

Azote non protéique (ANP). [...]

1, record 14, French, - dystrophine

A secondary novel technology to which the Company has exclusive rights is that of antibody-targeted liposomes. This technology involves the incorporation of an antimyosin antibody into liposome membranes that serves to target the immunoliposome to cytoskeletal protein exposed by cellular membrane lesions. Upon anchoring the liposome to the cell via the antibody the liposome presumably fuses with the cell membrane and repairs the lesion. In vitro and animal model studies have shown that this methodology has been able to preserve cell and tissue viability under anoxic/ischemic conditions. This technology may be able to limit the extent of heart muscle damage during heart attacks and myocarditis. 1, record 15, English, - immunoliposome

Becker dystrophy is like a less severe form of Duchenne dystrophy. Recently it was shown that DMD [Duchenne's muscular dystrophy] and BMD are due to defects of the same gene. The normal function of the gene is to enable muscle fibers to make a particular chemical substance, a protein called dystrophin. Muscle fibres in people affected with DMD are extremely deficient in dystrophin, in BMD the deficiency is less severe. 1, record 16, English, - Becker%20muscular%20dystrophy

The gene believed to be responsible for Barth syndrome has been identified by Dr. D. Toniolo of the Institute of Genetics in Pavia, Italy, and colleagues in the Netherlands and Australia. The gene had earlier been mapped to the very "gene-rich region in distal portion of Xq28. "Now Dr. Toniolo's group has traced the specific mutation to gene G4. 5, after finding high expression of the protein in skeletal and cardiac muscle. 1, record 18, English, - Barth%20syndrom

Recently, several mesoderm-inducing factors(MIFs) have been discovered. These cause isolated Xenopus animal caps to form mesodermal cell types such as muscle, instead of their normal fate of epidermis. The MIFs fall into two classes. One comprises members of the fibroblast growth factor(FGF) family, and the other members of the transforming growth factor type beta(TGF-beta) family. Of the latter group, the most potent is XTC-MIF, a protein produced by Xenopus XTC cells. Here we show that XTC-MIF is the homologue of mammalian activin A. 3, record 19, English, - mesoderm%20inducing%20factor
