El testículo se encuentra en el interior de la bolsa escrotal que tiene las siguientes capas, de más externa a interna: piel, músculo dartos (músculo liso y elástico que confiere flexibilidad), la fascia espermática externa (fascia de recubrimiento del músculo oblicuo externo), músculo cremáster (fibras musculares del músculo transverso y el oblicuo del abdomen, permite ascender o descender el testículo para regular la temperatura de éste).
