3, record 3, Spanish, - paraclonaci%C3%B3n

The reactor involved in the Chernobyl nuclear accident was a 1, 000-MWe(3, 200-MWt) RBMK, a boiling-water pressure-tube, graphite moderated power reactor that was developed and operated in the former Soviet Union. Because of the pressure-tube design using water as coolant within channels in the graphite moderator, RBMK reactors have a significant positive void coefficient of reactivity in which a reduction in the coolant density results in an increase in the system reactivity due to a reduction in neutron absorption by the coolant. 1, record 4, English, - positive%20void%20coefficient%20of%20reactivity

1, record 5, Spanish, - fusi%C3%B3n%20del%20n%C3%BAcleo

Anticipated transient without scram(ATWS)... is one of the "worst case" accidents, consideration of which frequently motivates the NRC [Nuclear Regulatory Commission] to take regulatory action. The International Nuclear Event Scale [INES]. Level 7. Major accident. Criteria. External release of a large fraction of the radioactive material in a large facility(e. g. the core of a power reactor). This would typically involve a mixture of short and long-lived radioactive fission products(in quantities radiologically equivalent to more than tens of thousands of terabecquerels of iodine-131).

1, record 29, French, - syndrome%20chronique%20d%27irradiation

I-131 is the dominant radioisotope contributing to internal exposure after a reactor accident, nuclear weapons test or any incident involving fresh fission products. Adopted in 1986 following the Chernobyl nuclear plant accident, this Convention establishes a notification system for nuclear accidents which have the potential for international transboundary release that could be of radiological safety significance for another State. It requires States to report the accident's time, location, radiation releases, and other data essential for assessing the situation. Notification is to be made to affected States directly or through the IAEA, and to the IAEA itself. Reporting is mandatory for any nuclear accident involving facilities and activities listed in Article 1. Pursuant to Article 3, States may notify other accidents as well. The five nuclear-weapon States(China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and United States) have all declared their intent also to report accidents involving nuclear weapons and nuclear weapons tests. 2, record 56, English, - Convention%20on%20Early%20Notification%20of%20a%20Nuclear%20Accident

Inside the building housing a reactor which is undergoing a major nuclear accident, internal steam pressure can be greatly reduced by using a dousing system to condense the steam. All CANDU reactors are provided with such a dousing system. It is much more difficult to reduce the pressure from non-condensable gases which are formed in great quantities during meltdown. 6, record 61, English, - dousing%20system
Record number: 61, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The Containment System forms a continuous, pressure-confining envelope around the reactor core and primary heat-transport system. In the CANDU 6 design it consists of a pre-stressed, post-tensioned concrete structure, an automatically-initiated dousing system, building coolers, and a filtered air discharge system. In Ontario Hydro’s multi-reactor designs, containment includes a vacuum building connected to all reactor vaults in the plant, with its own dousing system for reducing internal pressure. 7, record 61, English, - dousing%20system
