The CHIA is an external support equipment which provides interfaces between the cargo items and the ULC [Unpressurized Logistic Carrier] in orbit, during the assembly and maintenance operations of the ISS [International Space Station]. Its basic design will interface plates or boxes where cargo items can be accommodated. The CHIAs will provide heating as well as a data bus to verify that the cargo items are in operational conditions and within their safety margins. Brazil will supply a series of CHIAs in quantities and shapes to be defined. They will be fully compatible with external robotics operations(EVR) and with the crew's external vehicular activities(EVA).

The Australian Centre for Remote Sensing(ACRES) is Australia's major satellite Remote Sensing organisation, which was established as the Australian Landsat Station in 1979. ACRES is a business unit of the Australian Surveying and Land Information Group(AUSLIG), Department of Industry, Science and Resources. British Aerospace Australia is employed under contract to provide operations and maintenance services. ACRES goal is to maintain and periodically refresh a comprehensive archive of satellite remotely sensed data over Australia to help ensure that fundamental geographic information is available for the benefit of the Australian community. ACRES primary functions are to acquire, catalogue, archive, process and distribute remotely sensed data acquired from earth observation satellites for both scientific and operational applications.

The Royal Centre for Remote Sensing(CRTS) is the national institution responsible for the promotion, use and development of remote sensing applications in Morocco. CRTS coordinates and carries out the national program of remote sensing in collaboration with ministerial departments, private operators and universities. An account is given of the Antarctic First Regional Observing Study of the Troposphere(FROST) project, which has been organized by the Physics and Chemistry of the Atmospheric Group of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research. The goals of FROST are to study the meteorology of the Antarctic, to determine the strengths and weaknesses of operational analyses and forecasts over the continent and in the sourrounding ocean areas, and to assess the value of new forms of satellite data that are becoming available. FROST is based around three one-month Special Observing Periods(SOPs)--July 1994, 16 October-15 November 1994, and January 1995 for which comprehensive datasets have been established of model and situ and satellite observations.

The Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites(CGMS) concerns itself with the coordination of operational topics. Membership is open to all operators of meteorological satellites, to prospective operators having a clear commitment to develop and operate such satellites, and to the WMO, because of its unique role as representative of the world meteorological data user community. The first meeting was held in September 1972, with representatives from the European Space Research Organization, Japan, the USA and observers from the World Meteorological Organization and the World Climate Research Programme(WCRP).
