The second and third Materials Science Research Rack (MSRR-2 and MSRR-3) configurations will be derived from ongoing science reference experiment and follow-on rack architectural and accommodation tradeoff studies. The initial MSRF concept is three Materials Science Research Racks(MSRR-1, MSRR-2, MSRR-3) which will developed for a phased deployment beginning on UF-3 in September, 2001. Concepts for the required Experiment Modules which satisfy the goals and objectives of the Materials Science program, are being developed. It is anticipated that the useful life of each rack will be from a minimum of five(5) to up to ten(10) years. The operational life of the Experiment Modules(EM) is planned for a minimum of five(5) years. The Ems will be designed to be serviceable and maintainable on orbit for their operational duration to satisfy the peer-selected scientific flight investigations. Flexibility is to be included in the design for ORU [Orbital Replaceable Unit] replacement of key components in order to extend useful life. The Experiment Modules for each rack will be designed to be "smart" furnaces with the avionics packages designed to support each investigation. The initial MSRF concept is three Materials Science Research Racks(MSRR-1, MSRR-2, MSRR-3) which will be developed for a phased deployment beginning on UF-3 in September, 2001... the useful life of each rack will be from a minimum of five(5) to up to ten(10) years. The operational life of the Experiment Modules(EM) is planned for a minimum of five(5) years. The Ems will be designed to be serviceable and maintainable on orbit for their operational duration to satisfy the peer-selected scientific flight investigations. A specific increment's planning operation may begin several years before the relevant STS launch(or OMV [Orbital Maneuvering Vehicle] deployment from the manned base). A specific increment's executions operations begin with the Station Program's realtime support to launch of the relevant transportation mission(STS/OMV), and generally extends through the initiation of similar support to the respective follow on transportation mission. ELV [Expendable Launch Vehicle] arrivals at Station elements are contained within the relevant increment. For the manned base, increment duration may vary according to the number of STS visits per year(for eight flights per year, increment duration is 45 days; for five flights per year, 72 days). For platforms, increment duration is related to the period between servicing, between deployment and return to Earth, or between deployment and the end of its operational lifetime. 1, record 14, English, - increment%20planning%20operation

Canadian command relationship which gives the gaining commander full authority to direct and control all aspects of the operational activities and all movement of the unit or formation placed at his disposal, and, unless specifically excluded, the authority to direct and responsibility for the combat service support of the unit. The commander may assign missions or tasks to the entire unit or to its separate elements. He may delegate all or any part of his authority for the "under command" unit to a subordinate or adjacent commander. In grouping tactical aviation units "under command" of a land commander, the gaining commander will exercise his authority for the assignment of tasks to the separate elements of the force, the delegation of authority to subordinate commanders and the selection of and movement between deployment areas through the aviation component commander. In addition, the control of certain aspects of unit operational or support activities is retained by Commander Air Command and exercised through the aviation component commander. 1, record 18, English, - under%20command

In Canadian army doctrine, command relationship used when a unit or sub-unit is deployed by a higher commander in the area of responsibility of a subordinate formation or unit commander who has no authority to direct the operational activities of the "in location" force. The force placed "in location" executes missions or tasks as directed by the higher commander. The commander responsible for the area will be responsible for the co-ordination required to accommodate the "in location" unit(eg, deployment area, road space for movement, rear area defence).
