The Canadian Forces Electronic Warfare Centre(CFEWC) exists to deliver comprehensive EW support to CF military operations. CFEWC is endeavouring to be the expert authority on technical EW matters within the Canadian Forces. In 1990, the Electronic Warfare Operational Support Centre(EWOSC) project was initiated with the intent of consolidating operational, intelligence and engineering support to the CF EW community. Under the initial phase of the EWOSC project(IEWOSC), a centralized CF EW database was created, the environmental integrated support stations were established, EW threat analysis was begun and a common logistics and administrative support cell was stood up. The Canadian Forces Electronic Warfare Centre(CFEWC) was established to encompass these capabilities within facilities constructed at the Communication Research Canada(CRC)-Shirley's Bay Campus. The initial construction was completed in 1994. CFEWC is mandated with the maintenance and development of the CF Electronic Warfare Database(CFEWDB).

An account is given of the Antarctic First Regional Observing Study of the Troposphere(FROST) project, which has been organized by the Physics and Chemistry of the Atmospheric Group of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research. The GPCC(Global Precipitation Climatology Centre) is a central element of the Global Precipitation Climatology Project(GPCP) which was established by the WMO/ICSU [World Meteorological Organization/International Council of Scientific Unions] Joint Scientific Committee for the World Climate Research Programme [WCRP] at its Seventh Session(Lisbon, March 1986). The GPCC itself was established in August 1988 at the "Deutscher Wetterdienst"("DWD", National Meteorological Service of Germany) starting with a research and development phase. The GPCC is now going to be operational, and it is operated by the DWD as a contribution to international climate observation and research activities. The GPCC has internationally defined functions. In the future, the GPCC will act as a GCOS [Global Climate Observing System] specified global data centre for precipitation, and in this role, it will continue to participate in the GPCP, as agreed by WCRP, GCOS, and DWD. It also co-operates with WCP-Water, Global Runoff Data Centre(GRDC), UNEP-GRID Programme, and FAO Water-Department.
