Glare is a laminated material made of alternate layers of aluminium and glass fibre. The word ’Glare’ stands for Glassfibre Reinforced Aluminium. Glare was developed in co-operation with the Delft University of Technology and the Netherlands National Aerospace Laboratory(NLR).... Glare has greatly reduced susceptibility to metal fatigue and is therefore stronger than aluminium, which allows significant weight savings to be achieved.... The Glare material is bonded under high pressure and temperature in [the Glare autoclave]. Glare combines the ideal characteristics of metal and composites. The selected fibre material is glass fibre, and the metal used is aluminium. To ensure high integrity and durability of the aluminium and glass fibre layers, these are securely bonded using an epoxy resin. The resin and bonding must be able to resist the extreme operating conditions encountered in flight, such as pressure, tension and torsion forces, as well as extreme temperatures in polar and tropical regions, and must be designed for a long operational lifetime.

CONT

A Unique Freeze Dryer Shelf and Condenser Chilling System. Most lyophilizers(freeze dryers) are designed with a single refrigeration system, which is required to switch from product chilling to condenser cooling in the lyophilization phase. If the shelf heating cycle should demand both cooling and heating to maintain a given temperature set point during the drying phase(as is the case with long and slow shelf temperature rises), the refrigeration system must operate in the dual role of cooling both the shelves and the condenser in order to maintain operational vacuum. If the sublimation rate from the product is high, this can often result in the refrigeration systems inability to meet both requirements. Most manufacturers attempt to compensate for these conditions by oversizing the compressor, which can lead to overloading in the terminal phase, resulting in reducing compressor life and reliability.

CONT

The Earth Radiation Budget (ERB) consists of the balance between absorbed solar radiation and longwave radiation emitted by the Earth’s surface and atmosphere. The emitted radiation is measured while the absorbed sunlight is determined as difference between the incident and the observed solar radiation reflected by the Earth system.

CONT

Emitted radiation. A leaf, like any object, constantly emits electromagnetic radiation at a rate that depends on its absolute temperature (in Kelvins, K).

CONT

From this equation, it is apparent that the amount of energy emitted depends on the wavelength (or frequency). The shorter the wavelength, the higher the energy. Emitted radiation consists of a continuous, non-uniform distribution of monochromatic (single-wavelength) components, varying widely with wavelength and direction.

CONT

Two generations of GOES [Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite] satellites have been launched, each measuring emitted and reflected radiation from which atmospheric temperature, winds, moisture, and cloud cover can be derived.

CONT

Remote Automatic Weather Stations measure a number of atmospheric elements including temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, and precipitation. The information for these elements are recorded hourly and collected at the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise. The Western Regional Climate Center receives these data near real-time and continuously updates a historical archive. RAWS sites are primarily owned and maintained by both federal and state land management agencies. Approximately 800 sites are now operational mostly in the western U. S.

Parametric release can be used as an operational alternative to routine release testing for the drug product. Sterility testing for terminally sterilized drug products is one example. In this case, the release of a batch is based on results from monitoring specific parameters e. g., temperature and pressure, during the terminal sterilization phase(s) of drug product manufacturing. These parameters can generally be more measured, so that they are more reliable in predicting sterility assurance than is end-product sterility testing. It is important to note that the sterilization process should be adequately validated before parametric release is proposed. When parametric release is performed, the attribute which is indirectly controlled(e. g., sterility), together with a reference to the associated test procedure, still should be included in the specifications.
