Tranq dope is an ever-fluctuating blend of xylazine, a sedative, and usually an opioid, with each type of drug binding to different brain receptors. 2, record 21, English, - tranq%20dope

Both xylazine and fentanyl are psychoactive and add to the effects that a user experiences. Fentanyl is a short-acting drug and the addition of xylazine extends the resulting feeling of euphoria to mimic the effects of heroin. However, many users are unaware that the heroin is adulterated (or "cut") with these other substances, and this can lead to unintended side effects and even overdose. For example, when xylazine is injected it can cause open wounds such as skin ulcers and abscesses to form. With long-term use, these lesions can become widespread across the arms and legs causing tissue death, hence its nickname: the zombie drug. 3, record 21, English, - tranq%20dope

1, record 21, French, - drogue%20du%20zombie

Morphine is the prototypical opioid agonist and remains the gold standard to which other opioids are compared. However, morphine has several features that may render it less than ideal... Morphine is relatively hydrophilic, causing a notoriously delayed peak effect(~15-20 minutes) even when given intravenously.... The phenylpiperidine opioid subclass, fentanyl, and its congeners... have pharmacokinetic profiles that may be more ideal for shorter surgical procedures... All of these opioids are more potent than morphine and are quite lipophilic with very rapid onset approximating 30 to 60 minutes and peak effects within 5 minutes. 4, record 22, English, - peak%20effect

An MED is a numerical standard against which most opioids can be compared, yielding an apples-to-apples comparison of each medication's potency. Although it's easy to presume that 10 mg of medication A are equal to 10 mg of medication B, differences in how opioid medications work in the body prohibit this sort of comparison, thus the need for calculating the MED of each. It is not about a medication's efficacy or how well it works, but about its relative potency. 1, record 33, English, - morphine%20equivalent%20dose

Morphine equivalents(MEQ) provide a common terminology to discuss opioid dosing. For example, 13 mg of oxycodone is equivalent to 20 mg of MEQ. Or, 133 mg of codeine is also 20 mg of MEQ. 2, record 33, English, - morphine%20equivalent%20dose
