A 1999 review of CF [Canadian Forces] deployment capabilities also identified a need for a military organization that could provide resource support to Canadian Forces deploying on joint operations. As a result, the National Military Support Capability(NMSC) project was established whose aim is to develop by 2003 a military capability to provide support above the tactical level for CF operations in Canada and overseas.

Un examen des capacités de déploiement des FC [Forces canadiennes] effectué en 1999 a révélé la nécessité de créer un organisme militaire capable de fournir le soutien des ressources aux Forces canadiennes appelées à se déployer dans le cadre d'opérations interarmées. Le projet de capacité nationale de soutien militaire (CNSM) a été conçu par la suite; son objectif consiste à élaborer, d'ici 2003, une capacité militaire visant à fournir un soutien au-delà du niveau tactique aux opérations des FC, au Canada et à l'étranger.
