The steep gradient of physicochemical properties across the atmosphere-water boundary concentrates a high amount of organic material in the SML, which attracts a variety of organisms of different sizes. Due to its unique physicochemical properties and position between the ocean and the atmosphere, the SML acts as both a sink and a source for many pollutants, including flame retardants, pesticides, antifouling agents, heavy metals, and petroleum and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAH). 5, record 1, English, - sea%20surface%20microlayer

1, record 4, French, - biomoniteur

Mutation analysis in a patient with mild hyperphenylalaninaemia showed three distinct base substitutions in exon 12 of the pherylolanine hydroxylase(PAH) gene. All three mutations, R413P, Y414C and D415N, have previously been described as being independently associated with PAH deficiency. Family studies and independent analysis of the PAH alleles of the patient showed cosegregation of the R413P and Y414C mutation. Using current methods for mutation identification, the presence of two known mutations on a single RAH alleles implies the risk of diagnosis of PAH deficiency and complicates genetic counselling. 1, record 12, English, - cosegregation

1, record 12, French, - cos%C3%A9gr%C3%A9gation
