The present invention relates to a modular nuclear fuel element, which can be adapted by an assembly system allowing it to be used in different nuclear power plants with horizontal and vertical cooling channels. The module is a cluster of parallel fuel rods mounted as circular concentric crowns and supported by a structural system. It has a single diameter fuel rod array where the ratio of the heat transfer area to the transverse rod area is higher than 330. It also has self-supporting fuel element spacer grids, which are collapsible sheaths attached to them with fewer than 13 welded end stoppers. 2, record 4, English, - fuel%20element%20spacer%20grid

Prior art fuel elements used in nuclear reactors can be divided into two general classes--flat plate fuel elements and cylindrical rod fuel elements. A requirement for plate fuel elements is that the fuel be metallurgically bonded to the cladding. Fuel elements of this type are conventionally brazed in parallel relation between two side plates. 1, record 5, English, - plate%20fuel%20element

Stimir’s Stub Sawing machine is designed to horizontally cut stubs while the rods are hanging vertically in the overhead conveyor, connecting it fully and easily to existing anode conveyor systems. Stimir’s Stub Sawing Machine was originally developed for Alcan in Iceland for cutting 3 stub rods, 125 mm in diameter. A bar code label is affixed to one end of the yoke and indicates which stubs are to be cut, and which of eight distinct cut styles is to be used. 3, record 6, English, - stub%20rod

Record number: 11, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Record number: 11, Textual support number: 1 OBS
5, record 11, French, - pointe%20filtrante
Record number: 11, Textual support number: 2 OBS
6, record 11, French, - pointe%20filtrante
