A manufactured fiber in which the fiber-forming substance is a long chain aromatic polymer having recurrent imidazole groups as an integral part of the polymer chain.

OBS

The polymer is made from tetraaminobiphenyl and diphenyl isophthalate and is spun from a dope with dimethylacetamide as the solvent. Characteristics : A high-performance fiber with high chemical resistance that does not burn in air... The fiber and fabrics from PBI retain their flexibility, dimensional stability... PBI is a good fiber for many critical uses...
