Panel PCs are available in a range of different sizes, computing performance and styles to suit a wide variety of applications. Typical applications include machine control (HMI), point of information kiosks (POI), point of sale (POS) and mobile computing in commercial vehicles, railway and marine use.

An all-in-one LCD PC refers to a computer that is contained within a Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) monitor. This is sometimes referred to as a Panel PC. The computer components are housed inside the monitor, and the media drive and ports are accessible along the sides of the monitor.

A monitor display that uses a grid of transistors to turn a row and column of lighted pixels on and off. These displays are the cheapest, sport the lowest-quality picture, and are notorious for a slow refresh rate that can’t always keep up with the movements of the pointing device.(PC Novice, January 1996, p. 75).

Monitoring software packages... install themselves as memory-resident TSR... programs in a manner similar to some PC utilities.... They intercept and monitor disk I/O, trying either to monitor system integrity or to detect "virus activity".... any virus which does not comply with the monitoring program's concept of virus activity will be ignored. The monitoring activity also degrades system performance and can be incompatible with network software, certain application programs and so on.
