Wind energy is the world's fastest growing renewable source of electricity … the atmospheric flows are strongly volatile, and therefore, the average wind speed at a given location is a very poor predictor of the energy output of a wind turbine. The basic requirement for wind power estimates is an adequate characterization of the empirical probability distribution of wind speeds since wind direction is less important because of the well developed methods of yaw control for modern turbines. The traditional approach of modeling the wind speed PDF is based on the Rayleigh and the more flexible Weibull distributions. However, several authors noted that Weibull fits of empirical data have low quality at several locations, mostly over land.

A user-controlled process to facilitate page viewing by inhibiting Acrobat Reader and Exchange from displaying unnecessary top, bottom, and side document margins in the Page View pane. The individually set margin croppings apply to user-selected page ranges within individual PDF documents. PDF files contain the viewing crop specifications. Original page margins still appear on printed pages, but information within the cropped areas does not print.

A technique that reduces image resolution before image compression commences to reduce compressed image sizes. As an example, one technique collectively replaces a group of dot values with its average. Dots averaged together reside in non-overlapping squares. A single averaged value replaces the collectively averaged dot values, reducing image dot counts, resolution, and PDF compressed image sizes. A downsample factor of 2 reduces both horizontal and vertical image resolutions by a factor of 4.

CONT

Downsampling typically forfeits image detail, but yields significantly smaller compressed images. Acrobat Distiller products enable you to specify the minimum image resolution acceptable and use the maximum downsample factor that does not violate your selected minimum resolution specification or exceed your selected downsample integer value specification.

Acrobat Exchange flags existing PDF page specifications as changed and appends updated information to PDF file ends. This minimizes save activity duration, permitting changed PDF file save durations to reflect change extents rather than PDF file sizes. It also preserves previous information, potentially permitting future extensions to perform subsequent undo operations if necessary.
