A lognormal error is usually assumed in the traditional stock–recruitment(SR) analysis.... a positive bias results when [a] SR model with [a] lognormal error is used for fish recruitment prediction. Not only is this bias exponentially dependent on the structure of the model' s residual variance and the historical SR data, it is also dependent on the specific value of spawner biomass used.... a bias correction that is asymptotically unbiased with a finite-sample biasthat is practically zero [is then derived]. Data from two Pacific salmon populations, southeast Alaska pink salmon... and Chilko Lake sockeye salmon... are used to demonstrate this approach. The results show that the relative bias is about 10% for a spawning biomass within the historical range and that the bias is substantial outside that data range. However, with the proposed bias correction, the bias is negligible both within(<0. 1%) and outside of(<0. 3%) the data range. 2, record 1, English, - bias%20correction

Redbanded rockfish are a deep-bodied fish with a rounded head. Underwater they appear white or light pink with four darker red or orange vertical bars on the body(one on the caudal peduncle). The bars tend to be more prominent on smaller fish. The first bar extends from the front of the first dorsal fin to the base of the pectoral fin. They have two oblique bands crossing their heads, one extending backward from the eye and the other near the upper jaw. 2, record 3, English, - redbanded%20rockfish

The substantial genetic correlation of size and timing of return that we observe... could have consequences for harvest management. Alexandersdottir(1987) reviewed evidence that selection with respect to timing has had detrimental effects on pink salmon productivity in some fisheries. Our data suggest that selection against later returning fish could have the correlated effect of reducing the individual size of fish in the population. 2, record 5, English, - correlated%20effect

A central objective of population ecology is to understand how populations are spatially structured. An informative way of looking at this is to describe how species abundance varies temporally and spatially and then to identify the mechanisms that can cause synchrony. ... Two principal mechanisms have been identified as the possible cause of spatial synchrony. First, dispersal between spatially structured populations ... and second, the correlated effect of density independent factors that synchronise populations with the same density dependent structure ... 1, record 5, English, - correlated%20effect

April 7... Tonight will bring the April moon, traditionally called the Egg Moon. This full Moon is also known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Pink Moon, and the Fish Moon. Historically, Native North Americans living in the tributaries of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence kept track of the seasons by giving a distinctive name to each full Moon. This name was used to refer to the entire month in which the Moon occurred. 2, record 6, English, - April%20moon

3, record 6, French, - lune%20rousse
