More specifically, by way of example, in one exemplary embodiment of the invention, the TTS [text-to-speech] markup generated by the conversion module can be defined using Speech Synthesis Markup Language(SSML). SSML is a proposed specification being developed via the World Wide Web Consortium(W3C), which can be implemented to control the speech synthesizer. The SSML specification defines XML(Extensible Markup Language) elements for describing how elements of a text string are to be pronounced. For example, SSML defines a "prosody" element to control the pitch, speaking rate and volume of speech output. 1, record 2, English, - Speech%20Synthesis%20Markup%20Language

The sarod is a short-necked, fretless plucked lute from North India... The sarod has a wooden body, usually made of teak, with a parchment sound table, and a small secondary resonator at the top of the neck. An unusual feature of the sarod is that the neck is covered with a sheet of smooth, polished metal. As there are no frets on the sarod, the subtle pitch inflections central to Indian music are achieved by sliding the finger on the string as it is pressed down on the metal surface. Typically, the sarod has four or five main playing strings, three to five drone and "chikari" strings and up to 16 sympathetic strings. The strings are plucked with a plectrum, which is usually made of coconut shell. 2, record 8, English, - sarod

[One] type of flute is a globular flute, also called a vessel flute. "Ocarina" is a common name for one of the most common types of globular flutes. Unlike their tubular flute cousins, globular flutes can be any shape, but still have finger holes and a blow hole, and are played in generally the same fashion as a tubular flute.... The physics of sound production is significantly different between tubular and globular instruments. In a tubular instrument, a vibrating column of air produces the sound. The length of this air column is the primary factor determining the pitch. However, the pitch can be modified by uncovering toneholes along the body of the instrument, which effectively shorten the length of the air column and raise the pitch. But with globular instruments, the shape of the air contained within the vessel is generally irrelevant to the pitch. It's the total volume of air contained in the vessel and the size of the opening that determines the pitch. 2, record 10, English, - globular%20flute

Originally, keyboard tablatures must have suggested a practical link to the keys of the instrument. Indeed, the anonymous tenth-century Bern organ treatise... describes the presence of pitch names, for the performer's visual reference, written directly on the keys of the organ. If letters of the alphabet could be used in this way, it is just as conceivable that numbers could have been used in a similar manner. Thus, the origin of "German" keyboard tablatures may be associated with the practice of lettered keys, and the origin of "Spanish" tablatures may, at least hypothetically, be associated with numbered keys. 2, record 12, English, - keyboard%20tablature

The bass drum, or kick drum, is a large drum that produces a note of low definite or indefinite pitch. The instrument is typically cylindrical, with the drum's diameter much greater than the drum's depth, with a struck head at both ends of the cylinder. 2, record 45, English, - bass%20drum

Kick drums are also known as bass drums—but they’re distinct from the type of bass drums used in classical music ensembles. Orchestral bass drums tend to be far larger than drum kit bass drums. Unlike drum kit bass drums, which sit on the floor, orchestral bass drums sit suspended off the ground. And while drummers strike kick drums with a bass drum pedal, they strike orchestral bass drums with handheld beaters—usually mallets but sometimes standard drumsticks. 3, record 45, English, - bass%20drum

A television producer is a person who oversees all aspects of video production on a television program. Some producers take more of an executive role, in that they conceive new programs and pitch them to the television networks, but upon acceptance they focus on business matters, such as budgets and contracts. Other producers are more involved with the day-to-day workings, participating in activities such as screenwriting, set design, casting and directing. 2, record 51, English, - television%20producer

Viewing Distance at Computer Workstations. ... Accommodation is when the lens capsule in your eye changes shape to focus on a close object. The eyes have a default accommodation distance, called the resting point of accommodation (RPA). That is the distance at which the eyes focus when there is nothing to focus on. In total darkness our eyes are set to focus at a particular distance, so that if the lights were turned on, an object at that distance would be in clear focus. The RPA averages 30 inches for younger people and gets farther away with age. 5, record 81, English, - resting%20point%20of%20accommodation

... reading from a computer screen... Our eyes have what is called a "dark focus. "This is the point in space where your focus would be if your eyes were totally relaxed. Imagine a pitch black room. In such an environment, where you can’t see anything, your eyes are actually focusing on a fixed point in space, that is why it is called the "dark" focus. This focus is known as the Resting Point of Accommodation(RPA) and is unique to every individual, but it usually rests more than three feet away from your face(and does not depend on time of day or age). 6, record 81, English, - resting%20point%20of%20accommodation
