Infiltration flooding. After a few days of steady rain, when spring snow-melt occurs or during an extreme rainfall event, the soil around [the] home can become saturated with water. Steady snow-melt and precipitation can also raise the ground water level to a point where it is higher than [the] basement floor. This groundwater can infiltrate into basements through cracks in basement walls(or foundation walls) and cracks in basement floors. Infiltration flooding can be a significant problem in older homes where mortar has weakened over the years and cracks have developed in stone or cinder block foundations. 1, record 7, English, - infiltration%20flooding

Rules : There are 3 teams, each with a different color jersey.... There are 4 players on each team... The players on the defensive teams form a square around the ball. This same square constantly follows all the movements of the ball. Each player is responsible for a corner of the square and is situated about 10-12 feet from the ball. The ball starts in the middle and one team sets up a serve. The serving formation is as follows; 2-4 players kneel down facing each other with heads down and arms outstretched. The ball is placed on their outstretched arms. The server approaches the ball and says "Omnikin" and another color(example : Omnikin Red!) before striking the ball with the fist in an upward motion. When the color is announced and the ball is in the air, the corresponding team must catch the ball before it hits the ground. If successful, that team sets up the serve immediately. If the team does not catch the ball before it touches the ground, then one point is awarded to each of the other teams on the court and that same team serves the ball. 3, record 37, English, - Kin%2DBall%C2%AE%20sport

1, record 37, French, - sport%20Kin%2DBall%C2%AE

The game of quoits is played on a ’rink’, the object being to toss a quoit(a round piece of iron with a round hole in the middle) onto an immovable hub or pin set in the ground, or failing this to get nearer to the pin than one's opponent. Measurements are taken from the central point of the hub. Two pins are used : they are set at least 18 feet apart and are surrounded by beds of clay 4 ft 6 in. in diameter; only one inch of the pin is left exposed. The quoits are thrown at one pin from a line level with the other pin, and should either lodge over the pin or dig into the clay. Each player throws two quoits. 1, record 43, English, - quoit%20rink

A sewage pump is an essential component of any waste processing system. While most plumbing systems rely on gravity to bring the waste material down to the sewer level to be processed, occasionally the sewage line is on higher ground than where the waste is originating from. In these cases, a sewage lift pump must be used to counter the effects of gravity and transport the waste matter to its destination.... A sewage lift pump, the primary component of a sewage lift system, is essentially a large tank in which waste water and material collect. Within the tank is a float device which raises and lowers depending on the level of waste in the tank at any given point in time. When the tank fills with waste matter and the float rises to a certain point within it, the sewage lift pump activates. The lift pump essentially forces the waste water and material up through a series of pipes to the sewer or septic lines where it will continue to be processed. As the lift pump moves more material from the tank, the float will begin to lower. Once it reaches a certain point towards the bottom of the tank, it will trigger the lift pump to shut off. All sewage lift pumps also have a built-in alarm that will sound if the float fails to operate correctly. 3, record 50, English, - sewage%20lift%20pump

Interferometric synthetic aperture radar(InSAR) is a promising recent technique for the generation of digital elevation models and/or the measurement of ground surface deformations. In InSAR data processing, the first step is the image co-registration, achieved by using a set of tie points which are the conjugate image points on the master and slave images. Tie points are selected with the aim of finding the conjugate point automatically on the slave image for any given point on the master image, by the process known as image matching. To achieve reliable matching, a set of points within a window is used instead of a single point. The size of the window will affect the reliability of matching. Hitherto there have been no effective methods for the determination of optimum window size for this purpose. In practice, this parameter is determined by experience. 2, record 68, English, - image%20co%2Dregistration

The first type of precision airdrop is a single system called AGAS(Affordable Guided Airdrop System) that uses in-service round cargo parachutes. A detailed knowledge of the wind patterns at the drop location is used to calculate the required flight path and drop point. The flight path is maintained by the system's ability to pull slips which dump air from one side of the canopy. By incorporating wind data with this limited method of steering, the system has proven capable of landing an average of 48 meters away from the intended grid reference when deployed from 13 000 ft above ground level. This accuracy is phenomenal given that the present LF freefall cylinder rarely even hits a large drop zone when deployed from 5, 000 feet above ground evel(AGL). AGAS is the cheapest precision airdrop system presently available. 2, record 71, English, - affordable%20guided%20airdrop%20system

1, record 72, French, - dispositif%20d%27a%C3%A9rolargage%20de%20pr%C3%A9cision

Instead of having the beam sweep along in a continuous fashion, we triggered the TR [transformer-rectifier] modules to electronically wiggle the beam back and forth, perpendicular to the direction of flight. In the radar world, we call this ScanSAR(Scanning Synthetic Aperture Radar), because the beam scans across swath the way an electron beam sweeps across the face of a cathode-ray tube to make a television picture. You point the beam at one spot on the ground for about a tenth of a second, then zip it over to another place and point it there for a while, then you zip it over to a third place, then a fourth. By looking at four such subspots, you can sweep out a much wider swath of data. 3, record 78, English, - scanning%20synthetic%20aperture%20radar

A staring sensor is one that can lock onto a point and compensate for the forward motion of the platform. This mitigates the areal change platform-induced problem, however, other motion problems will become significant. A staring sensor must compensate for pixel change as the platform moves toward or away from the chosen staring point. In this staring geometry, one will have to consider the drift induced by slightly imperfect aiming or imperfect stabilization. In all viewing modes, the stability of the platform is important, as any jitter or vibrations will be transformed into pixel motion on the ground. 3, record 79, English, - staring%20sensor

Jetted wells, similar to drilled wells, are more common in sandy soils than in clay formations. A high-velocity stream of water is forced into the soil, then a jetting tool(point) is pushed into the loosened material to provide access for the well casing that follows. The casing of a jetted well often does not extend above the ground surface, a factor that both allows contaminants to enter the well and makes it difficult to later locate and inspect the well. 2, record 92, English, - jetted%20well

BREAK OVER. This occurs during that part of the stride when the limb is beginning to move forward and the anterior portion of the hoof leaves the ground. Break over point is that place on the ground surface of the dorsal wall and sole around which the limb rotates as the hoof leaves the ground. An unbalanced hoof, either because of incorrect trimming/shoeing, or hoof or limb pathologies, will not have the correct break over which leads to a host of problems, both actual and potential. The modern world is full of large data sets : census data, multimedia databases, and remote sensing data, to name a few. With the aid of computers it is possible to collect scientific data on a grand scale. These examples are not "large" merely because they have many data points. They are also high dimensional, meaning that there are many measurements taken of each person, multimedia object, or point on the ground. The "data point" representing one person is made up of their age, gender, educational level, occupation, and whatever else was recorded. Suppose there are 12 attributes recorded for each person.
