Agglomerative hierachy clustering algorithm. This is the most common type of hierarchical clustering algorithm. It's used to group objects in clusters based on how similar they are to each other. This is a form of bottom-up clustering, where each data point is assigned to its own cluster. Then those clusters get joined together. At each iteration, similar clusters are merged until all of the data points are part of one big root cluster. 1, record 2, English, - agglomerative%20hierarchy%20clustering%20algorithm

The ICBL was launched in October 1992 by a group of six non-governmental organizations : Handicap International, Human Rights Watch, Medico International, Mines Advisory Group, Physicians for Human Rights and Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation. These founding organizations witnessed the horrendous effect of mines on the communities they were working with in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America and saw how mines hampered and even prevented their development efforts in these countries. The International Campaign to Ban Landmines(ICBL) is a global network in over 70 countries that works for a world free of antipersonnel landmines and cluster munitions, where landmine and cluster munition survivors can lead fulfilling lives. The Campaign was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of its efforts to bring about the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. Since then, we have been advocating for the words of the treaty to become a reality, demonstrating on a daily basis that civil society has the power to change the world. As a member of the Cluster Munition Coalition, the ICBL is engaged in the global effort to ban cluster munitions and to address their humanitarian impact. In December 2006, the ICBL decided to engage extensively in the global effort to prohibit cluster munitions. This marked the first time that the ICBL had become significantly engaged on an issue other than antipersonnel mines. The main reasons for the ICBL' s decision were that cluster munitions inevitably end up leaving behind large numbers of unexploded ’duds’ which behave essentially like antipersonnel mines; that many ICBL members had been already working extensively on cluster munitions; and that international efforts to achieve a global ban on cluster munitions were at a crucial point, a point where the ICBL could have a meaningful impact. 1, record 13, English, - International%20Campaign%20to%20Ban%20Landmines

1, record 13, French, - Campagne%20internationale%20pour%20interdire%20les%20mines

The Thixoforming Group in the Department of Engineering Materials at the University of Sheffield undertakes research and development into the forming of alloys and composites in the semi-solid state(SSM). This process is commonly called thixoforming(thixocasting or thixoforging) and possesses some of the advantages of both casting and forging. Initially the material behaves in the semi-solid condition like a solid(it can be picked up and holds it shape unsupported), but when injected into a die it flows like a liquid to take the form of the die accurately, as in die-casting. However, the structure is fine and uniform, virtually free of porosity, and the product may be heat-treated to give mechanical properties superior to those of castings. The thermal shock to the die is less than that given by a liquid, which means that higher melting point alloys-which cannot easily be diecast-may nevertheless be thixocast. 1, record 15, English, - thixoforming

Moreover, a number of creditors, including the main multilaterals, started to provide earlier assistance to qualifying countries in the form of interim relief at decision point. A multiple well system is a group of closely installed shallow tubewells, usually connected to a common header pipe or manifold and pumped by suction lift of a centrifugal pump. Such a system is also known as a well point system or battery of wells. The individual wells in a well battery may be strainer wells or cavity wells, depending on the characteristics of the water bearing formation. In areas where the water bearing formations are not appreciably thick, or good quality water is available only in the upper layers of unconfined aquifers, multiple well system is often beneficial. 4, record 35, English, - interconnected%20wells

The primary technique used for checking the inconsistency of precipitation data has been a double mass analysis. In this technique the accumulation at a given station is plotted against the average accumulation for a group of stations. When the number of stations in the group is reasonably large, the accumulation of the group average should be quite stable. Thus, if there is a change in the relationship between a single station and the group at some point in time, it is likely that there has been a change in the precipitation measured at that station. This deviation can be removed by multiplying a portion of the record at that station by a factor that will produce a generally straight line relationship. 2, record 48, English, - double%2Dmass%20analysis

On 8 September, UNESCO celebrates International Literacy Day. Some people may believe that, in the audiovisual age, writing is outmoded; but this is by no means true. On the one hand, the written word is still indispensable as a reference point or a compass, enabling us to get our bearings in the galaxy of visual images. On the other hand, written knowledge is as vital as ever to the self-realization of every individual, every social group and every nation. Mastery of the written word is still a condition of access to knowledge and the full exercise of citizenship. Although illiteracy, in oral civilizations, can clearly not be equated with ignorance, it is a major obstacle to the acquisition of the knowledge and know-how that are essential for daily life in modern society. 1, record 51, English, - International%20Literacy%20Day

The Ford Special Vehicle Team was established in 1991 to "Polish the Ford Oval" by creating low-volume, factory-produced vehicles designed for those select few whose idea of driving is a high-powered, passionate experience-not just a means of getting from point A to point B. In a move to support this spirited enthusiasm, Ford Motor Company carefully integrated the wide array of talent in the company to a small, cross-functional group of engineers, product planners, and marketing people, housed together under one roof with a common mission : to create vehicles specifically designed to meet the unique needs and desires of the knowledgeable driving enthusiast. 3, record 57, English, - Special%20Vehicle%20Team

The Working Group on Numerical Experimentation(WGNE), jointly established by the Joint Scientific Committee on the WCRP and the WMO Commission for Atmospheric Sciences(CAS) has the responsibility of fostering the development of atmospheric circulation models for use in weather prediction and climate studies on all time scales and diagnosing shortcomings. WGNE promotes co-ordinated numerical experimentation for validating model results, observed atmospheric properties, exploring the natural and forced variability and predictability of the atmosphere,(e. g the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project, AMIP), as well as studies aimed at refined numerical techniques, and the formulation of atmospheric physics processes. WGNE also monitors the advances in data assimilation and analysis methods and is the focal point in WCRP for encouraging and reviewing the reanalysis projects carried out at various centres with fixed state-of-the-art assimilation systems providing a multi-year homogenous data set for a range of atmospheric and climate diagnostic studies. 2, record 58, English, - Working%20Group%20on%20Numerical%20Experimentation

Symmetry Element Possessed by Group : n-fold axis.... Symbol : T(tetrahedral). Symmetry Element Possessed by Group : four three-fold axes towards vertices or regular tetrahedron. Symbol : O. symmetry": In general, a figure or expression is said to be symmetric if parts of it may be interchanged without changing the whole. ... A right circular cone has an axis of symmetry. A geometric figure has n-fold rotational symmetry about an axis if a rotation of 360°/n is a symmetry of the figure. Thus an axis of symmetry can be a rotational axis. For example, an axis through the centre of a square perpendicular to the plane is a 4-fold axis since a rotation of 360°/4 produces an identical figure; a diagonal is a 2-fold axis. 2, record 79, English, - n%2Dfold%20axis

The Dynamic-Spender has assumed one of the promotable-now postures that is representative of the Dynamic manager who has run out of gas. He has reached the stage at which all the authority he can delegate developmentally has been delegated. Assuming that the complexity of his job has not changed significantly, and that his resources have remained relatively constant, he must sooner or later arrive at a point where he has done as much as he can for his group.(...) He must move-upward, laterally, or out-or he will simply resolve his dissonance in a most undesirable way-by becoming a Passive-Spender. 1, record 91, English, - dynamic%2Dspender
