In ballistics, the center of pressure is the point where all of the aerodynamic forces, particularly lift and drag, are equalized. If this point is behind or below the center of gravity, then the object is self-stabilizing. This is why fin stabilization works with missiles and similar military ordnance. The fins pull the center of pressure much further rearward. 2, record 1, English, - fin%20stabilization

The argument of pericenter, for example, is defined as follows. There is a line through space which is fixed by convention as a reference. If one body orbits another(for instance the Moon orbiting around the Earth) the argument of pericenter associated with this orbit is the angle in the plane of the orbit between the reference line and the closest point of the orbit to the focus. Viewing Distance at Computer Workstations.... Accommodation is when the lens capsule in your eye changes shape to focus on a close object. The eyes have a default accommodation distance, called the resting point of accommodation(RPA). That is the distance at which the eyes focus when there is nothing to focus on. In total darkness our eyes are set to focus at a particular distance, so that if the lights were turned on, an object at that distance would be in clear focus. The RPA averages 30 inches for younger people and gets farther away with age. 3, record 16, English, - accommodation%20distance

In total darkness our eyes are set to focus at a particular distance, so that if the lights were turned on, an object at that distance would be in clear focus. ... reading from a computer screen ... Our eyes have what is called a "dark focus." This is the point in space where your focus would be if your eyes were totally relaxed. Imagine a pitch black room. In such an environment, where you can’t see anything, your eyes are actually focusing on a fixed point in space, that is why it is called the "dark" focus. This focus is known as the Resting Point of Accommodation (RPA) and is unique to every individual, but it usually rests more than three feet away from your face (and does not depend on time of day or age). 6, record 17, English, - resting%20point%20of%20accommodation

One cannot enter into a discussion of nylon fibers for tire reinforcement without comparing nylon-6 to nylon-66. For the 30 plus years that these two materials have competed for the world's bias-ply truck tire market, the pros and cons have been the object of heated debate. At the center of controversy are the distinctions between the two in regards to thermal mechanical properties. The game of quoits is played on a ’rink’, the object being to toss a quoit(a round piece of iron with a round hole in the middle) onto an immovable hub or pin set in the ground, or failing this to get nearer to the pin than one's opponent. Measurements are taken from the central point of the hub. Two pins are used : they are set at least 18 feet apart and are surrounded by beds of clay 4 ft 6 in. in diameter; only one inch of the pin is left exposed. The quoits are thrown at one pin from a line level with the other pin, and should either lodge over the pin or dig into the clay. Each player throws two quoits. 1, record 43, English, - quoit%20rink

Hoarfrost [is] a deposit of interlocking ice crystals formed by direct sublimation on objects, usually those of small diameter freely exposed to the air, such as tree branches, plant stems and leaf edges, wires, and poles. Also, frost may form on the skin of an aircraft when a cold aircraft flies into warm and moist air or when it passes through air that is supersaturated with water vapor. Hoarfrost is formed similarly to the way dew is formed except that the temperature of the frosted object must be below freezing. Frost forms when air with a dew point below freezing is brought to saturation by cooling. In addition to its formation on freely exposed objects(air hoar), hoarfrost also forms inside unheated buildings and vehicles, in caves, in crevasses(crevasse hoar), on snow surfaces(surface hoar), and in air spaces within snow, especially below a snow crust(depth hoar). Hoarfrost is more fluffy and feathery than rime, which in turn is lighter than glaze. Hoarfrost is designated light or heavy(frost) depending upon the amount and uniformity of deposition. 6, record 46, English, - hoar%20frost

Because of the voltage gradient, the voltage of the earth only a short distance from the grounded metallic equipment will be different than the equipment. Thus, if a worker touches the grounded equipment, his or her feet will be at a different potential than his or her hands. This voltage can be lethal. Touch voltage is mitigated by increasing the number of grounding electrodes, increasing bonding between metal parts, and employing a grounding grid. 4, record 54, English, - contact%20voltage

Nevertheless, clustering real-world data sets often raises problems, since the data space is usually a high dimensional feature space. In such high dimensional feature spaces data does not cluster anymore. 2, record 59, English, - high%2Ddimensional%20feature%20space

The modern world is full of large data sets : census data, multimedia databases, and remote sensing data, to name a few. With the aid of computers it is possible to collect scientific data on a grand scale. These examples are not "large" merely because they have many data points. They are also high dimensional, meaning that there are many measurements taken of each person, multimedia object, or point on the ground. The "data point" representing one person is made up of their age, gender, educational level, occupation, and whatever else was recorded. Suppose there are 12 attributes recorded for each person. We can think of that person's record as a point in 12 dimensional space. 3, record 59, English, - high%2Ddimensional%20feature%20space

2, record 99, French, - objet%20ponctuel
