To this point, the words ’enrollment’, ’registration’, and ’recording’ have been used interchangeably. The "Statute of Enrollments" required enrollment, and the "Middlesex Act" required registration. Both of these procedures are the same and are satisfied by a memorandum or memorial included in the public records stating the names of the grantor and of the grantee of the instrument, and the interest purportedly transferred. Recording requires that a complete copy of the instrument be included in the public records.(Mapp, 1978, p. 48).

A confocal laser scanning microscope is a light microscope having a dramatically higher axial resolution than a conventional microscope. In other words, a confocal microscope is capable of optical sectioning. This is accomplished by illuminating the specimen one point at a time with a focused laser beam and using an optical arrangement, where only the light originating from the focus can be detected. The image is formed by scanning the laser beam over the specimen and recording the image into computer memory. A three-dimensional view of the specimen can be reconstructed from a stack of such images taken at successive focal planes.

Systematic solar radiation measurements in southern Africa commenced in the early 1950s and pioneering research on the spatial patterns of radiation, using very few data, was first published in 1957 by Drummond and Vowinckel. Schulze and McGee(1978) updated summer and winter solar radiation patterns from subsequent radiation observations using linear interpolative techniques, while Reid(1981) used sunshine duration as a surrogate to derive solar radiation for each month of the year. Reid's distribution patterns, however, remain artifacts of the point distribution of sunshine recording stations.

A microphone used at the focal point of a parabolic sound reflector to give improved sensitivity and directivity, as required for picking up a band marching down a football field.

Along with a recorder you will need a microphone. There are two types of microphones that are directional enough for bird song recording the shotgun microphone and the parabolic reflector microphone. The parabolic reflector is actually a combination of a reflector dish typically between 13" and 30" in diameter and a microphone. The microphone is positioned in the focal point of the reflector. This is the area where all of the sound is concentrated and yields an increased sensitivity that cannot be obtained by any other method.
