... the backdown procedure... has greatly contributed to the reduction of bycatch of small cetaceans in purse seine fisheries[. It] is [also] effective when combined with the use of dolphin-safe techniques or rescue methods.... The backdown occurs after the majority of the net is on board. At this point[, ] net retrieval is stopped, the net is tied to the vessel[, ] and the engine is put into reverse. This creates a water current that causes the remaining net to form a long channel in the water. The water current pulls the end of the channel underwater, thereby providing an area for dolphins to escape. 1, record 4, English, - backdown%20procedure

An analytical or separation procedure similar to gel electrophoresis. It is used to separate proteins and other charged molecules on the basis of their isoelectric point.

1, record 34, French, - recherches%20par%20mesure%20de%20l%27intensit%C3%A9%20du%20signal

Because the latissimus dorsi flap is not completely disconnected from its source at any point in the reconstruction surgery, it is therefore classified as a pedicle flap. During latissimus dorsi flap breast reconstruction, a tunnel is created beneath the skin from the back muscle to the breast area. Through this tunnel the surgeon transfers the flap; the few blood vessels that must be cut during the procedure are then reconnected with microsurgery. Once the flap is in place, the surgeon forms the tissue into the desired shape and sutures it into position. Finally, the back and chest incisions are closed. 5, record 35, English, - latissimus%20dorsi%20flap

For three-day intervals, an average radar cross-section(NRCS-40) is computed for each grid point by linear regression between the measured NRCS [Normalized Radar Cross-Section] and their respective incidence angles. NRCS-40 is the value of this regression line at an incidence angle of 40°. This procedure accounts for the incidence angle dependence of the NRCS, which is highly variable in spring when the backscattering mechanism changes from volume to surface scattering depending on snow cover, snow wetness, soil moisture and the penetration depth of the microwaves. 2, record 39, English, - backscattering%20mechanism

Regular and Sound Backups. Backups are something which everybody should be doing in any case, but are especially important in case of an attack by a destructive virus. In case of data loss, the system can be restored as efficiently as possible. As part of the backup procedure, the master disks for all software(including the operating system) should be write-protected and stored in a safe place. This will enable a speedy restoration of any infected executables. The backups should be sound, which means that there is little point in doing them unless the data can actually be restored. 1, record 50, English, - sound%20backup

1, record 50, French, - sauvegarde%20saine
