The set point theory [is] arguably the most influential and debated theory of body weight control. It suggests that like temperature in a room controlled by a thermostat, body weight(or body fat) is controlled by an equivalent device(ponderostat, adipostat) residing in the hypothalamus. Borrowing from the engineering vocabulary, this device receives feedback input from the controlled parameter(room temperature, body weight or body fat), and generates an error signal in a comparator if this feedback signal is deviating from a preset reference value(set point). The error signal is used to turn up or down any mechanisms that determine the level of the controlled parameter(heat production or dissipation in the case of room temperature, metabolizable energy-in or energy lost in the case of body weight/adiposity). 4, record 1, English, - ponderostat

2, record 1, French, - pond%C3%A9rostat

Biceps curls can be done using any of the following equipment : dumbbells, barbell, E-Z bar..., cable machine, biceps curling machine. Although the exercises differ, a common factor of each is a "curling" motion, where a weight-attached to an item of equipment listed above-is moved through an arc, primarily using the strength of the biceps. The biceps is contracted to lift the weight upward through the arc, to a point where further movement is not possible. The biceps is then extended, lowering the weight back through the arc, to the start position. 3, record 4, English, - biceps%20curl

Rock bursts. In areas of very deep mining, as additional weight is supported by the pillars on the coal face, stresses may so build up that the yield point is reached. If the coal pillars, the roof, or the floor are able to yield gradually, the effects of the stresses are relieved by floor heaving, or by pillar or roof failure. Where the coal or the associated rocks are particularly strong and depths are much above average, these stresses may be relieved by rock bursts, which are relatively violent outbursts of the coal into the rooms and entries. Frequently, a large volume of gas(usually methane) is suddenly released during a rock burst in a coal mine. 8, record 9, English, - rock%20burst
Record number: 9, Textual support number: 1 OBS
for "coal burst" : Rock bursts and "coal bursts" in coal mines are generally designated by the term "bumps" or "bounces". A large proportion of these "bumps" or "bounces" are actually "coal bursts" due to fracturing of pillars and remnants and need not involve any fracturing of roof or floor rock. 4, record 9, English, - rock%20burst
Record number: 9, Textual support number: 2 OBS
for "air blast" : In former years rock bursts were sometimes referred to as "air blasts". This name originated from the fact that large quantities of rock loosened by some of the larger rock bursts displaced quantities of air, with the result that a blast of air passed through the mine workings. 4, record 9, English, - rock%20burst

Bridging strength above this layer appears good and its reactivity to a human trigger is not a major concern. 2, record 21, English, - bridging%20strength

In avalanche forecasting, the concept of "bridging" refers to the point in time when the strong snow that overlies a weak layer becomes strong enough that it "bridges" over the weakness. The idea here is that when this point occurs, the strong snow will carry the weight of a person and prevent their force from penetrating through to the weak layer. The strong snow is the "bridge. "So then, bridging strength refers to the strength of the bridge. 3, record 21, English, - bridging%20strength

In case of leakage at the packing gland as evidenced by excessive fluid seepage or by air bubbles when soapy water is applied, the packing nut should be tightened firmly but not excessively. However, before tightening air pressure must be released, weight of airplane removed from the strut, and all safeties removed from the packing nut. The packing cannot be tightened properly under pressure, and if normal tightening does not stop the leakage, the packing must be replaced. 2, record 23, English, - packing%20gland

Over the years, power and Olympic lifters have used weight-belts to increase the stability of the spine. The running belay is an old technique that is still occasionally used for the time it save. Both climbers tie in and move simultaneously. There is no belayer. The leader places occasional protection and clips the rope through it. In a fall, the rope-running through the protection-will be held at some point by the weight of the other climber, because the rope is tied to both climbers’ harnesses and neither is anchored.... If either climber falls, both may fall-and a big fall is arrested only by dragging one's partner. 1, record 61, English, - running%20belay

The weighing point in weighing the aircraft is the point on the scale [a set of platform scales] at which the weight is concentrated, in weighing landplanes of light to medium weights it is usually the wheels that are placed on the scales, this means that the weighing point is in effect the same location that would be obtained if the center line of the wheel axle was projected on the scale. 2, record 70, English, - aircraft%20weighing%20scale

1, record 70, French, - balance
