POLYMER MIXING [12 records]

Record 1 2012-02-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nonferrous Metals and Alloys - Various
  • Bioengineering
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Prosthetic Dentistry
CONT

... titanium foam is made by mixing titanium powder with a polymer, and then adding foaming agents that expand the polymer when heated. Later, through a high-temperature heat treatment, the polymer is removed and the titanium particles are consolidated to provide mechanical strength to the porous structure.

CONT

Among metal foams, titanium foams (Ti-foams) are preferred in many crucial applications including biomedical implants for which biocompatibility is required.

OBS

Ti: Element symbol of titanium, atomic number 22 of the periodic table of elements.

  • Technique biologique
  • Chirurgie orthopédique
  • Dentisterie prothétique
CONT

CONT

fibrids : Short, irregular fibrous products, made by mixing a dilute polymer solution with a nonsolvent with agitation.

CONT

The fluidity of dilute solutions of polymers is inversely related to the polymer molecular weight and, for certain fibre-solvent systems, may be used as an indicator of polymer degradation.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biological Sciences
DEF

Device or process vessel in which chemical reactions (catalyzed or non-catalyzed) take place during a chemical conversion type of process.

CONT

pH must be controlled by the monitored addition of acid or alkali. In very large reactors the problem of long mixing times may make it impossible to achieve a homogeneous pH throughout the reactor, unless high stirring speeds(tank reactor) are used. This may create more of a problem than it solves, resulting in polymer particle attrition in the tank reactor or channelling in the packed bed reactor.

OBS

Reactors are classified as homogeneous or heterogeneous. This depends of course on whether their contents are homogeneous, in which only one phase is present, or heterogeneous where more than one phase is present.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sciences biologiques
CONT
