A texture analyzer was employed to study the properties of hairspray resins by measuring a number of mechanical parameters of hair modified by them. Hairset stiffness, stiffness retention at high humidity, and duration and magnitude of polymer film tackiness during drying were the properties employed to characterize fixative-treated hair. They were investigated for formulations containing ethyl ester of PVM/MA copolymer, butyl ester of PVM/MA copolymer, vinyl caprolactam/PVP/dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate copolymer, VA/butyl maleate/isobornyl acrylate copolymer, and polymer blends such as poly(methylvinylether)(PMVE)-ethyl ester of PVM/MA copolymer. 3, record 2, English, - ethyl%20ester%20of%20PVM%2FMA%20copolymer

Because of significant advantages, the kraft process has become established as the world's dominant pulping method. Nonetheless, the process also has some severe shortcomings, principally the low yield from wood, the comparatively high residual lignin content of bleachable grades, and the malodors caused by reduced sulfur compounds.... Most of the earlier modifications were aimed at increased retention of carbohydrates by stabilizing the end groups of the cellulose and hemicellulose polymer chains against "peeling reactions". These reactions cause dissolution of the end groups one unit at a time and consume a significant portion of the cooking chemical. 1, record 4, English, - peeling%20reaction

2, record 4, French, - r%C3%A9action%20de%20dissolution%20des%20monom%C3%A8res%20de%20bouts%20de%20cha%C3%AEne

Biodegradable geotextiles are being used for erosion control and can be based upon many different forms of natural fibre, including paper, wood shavings and jute.
