Psychiatric genetics, a subfield of behavioral neurogenetics, studies the role of genetics in psychological conditions such as alcoholism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and autism. The basic principle behind psychiatric genetics is that genetic polymorphisms, as indicated by linkage to e. g. a single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP), are part of the etiology of psychiatric disorders... The goal of psychiatric genetics is to better understand the etiology of psychiatric disorders, to use that knowledge to improve treatment methods, and possibly also to develop personalized treatments based on genetic profiles... 1, record 10, English, - psychiatric%20genetics

Loparite is a complex oxide of Na, REE, Ti and Nb from the perovskite mineral group. ... The chemical composition of loparite can change dramaticaly across a single crystal. Its crystal structure is so flexible that it can adjust to various cationic substitutions via slight changes in symmetry. The mineral loparite(Ce, NA, Sr, Ca)(Ti, Nb, Ta, Fe+3) O3 is the principal ore of the light-group rare-earth elements(LREE) in Russia. The complex oxide has a perovskite(ABO3) structure with coupled substitutions, polymorphism, defect chemistry and a tendency to become metamict.... Mine production is from Russia's Kola Peninsula. Ore is beneficiated to produce a 95% loparite concentrate containing 30% rare-earth oxides. Loparite concentrate is refined by either a chlorination process or acid decomposition process to recover rare-earths, titanium, niobium and tantalum. Rare-earths are separated by solvent extraction and selective precipitation/dissolution. 4, record 19, English, - loparite

Short tandem repeat polymorphisms, also referred to as variable number of tandem repeats(VNTRs), are very important to scientists, because they can be used to identify individuals genetically. Marker systems are used to detect loci that respond to restriction enzyme cleavage by producing a fragment that can have many different lengths. This polymorphism is due to variation in the number of tandem repeats. VNTRs can be identified in various ways. Probes can be developed which will hybridize to complementary sequences after RFLP has been performed on a sample of genomic DNA(Southern blots). A second method involves the use of PCR. If the sequence surrounding the VNTR is known, PCR primers(oligonucleotides) can be designed to amplify the repeat region(s). The information obtained from these experiments is useful in the fields of forensics, population characterization, human gene mapping, identification of genes involved in disease, relationship testing, and identifying genes of interest such as those that encode proteins containing zinc finge. 3, record 27, English, - variable%20number%20of%20tandem%20repeats

2, record 27, French, - nombre%20variable%20de%20r%C3%A9p%C3%A9titions%20en%20tandem

Fluorescence-based amplified fragment length polymorphism(fbAFLP) is a novel assay based on the fluorescent analysis of an amplified subset of restriction fragments. The fbAFLP assay involves the selective PCR [polymerase chain reaction] amplification of restriction fragments from a total digest of genomic DNA. The ligation of adapters with primer-specific sites coupled with primers containing selective nucleotides allowed the full potential of PCR to be realized while maintaining the advantages of restriction endonuclease analysis. Fluorescence-based fragment analysis with polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis provides the accurate band sizing required for homology assessment. 5, record 32, English, - fluorescent%20amplified%20fragment%20length%20polymorphism

In all cases, completely digested DNA was well detected from partially digested DNA in real-time measurement. One possible application of this technique would be the detection of changes of restriction enzyme length polymorphism(RFLP) when point mutations occur in the recognition sequence for the enzyme, and the enzyme produces different number of fragment from original sequence. RFLP has been applied from multilocus typing technique of human genom to any organism. 3, record 39, English, - multilocus%20typing%20technique

1, record 39, French, - typage%20g%C3%A9nomique%20multilocus

A condition in which is found any of two or more structural variations in a given chromosome within a species, the least common of which is not maintained by recurrent mutation. By convention, it is not associated with clinical syndromes. It is detectable cytologically as the presence or absence of satellites, variation in size of satellites, centromeric heterochromatin, bands, or in rearrangements of bands. 1, record 41, English, - chromosome%20polymorphism
