POLYPHENOLS [5 records]

Record 1 2026-03-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nutritive Elements (Biological Sciences)
  • Dietetics
CONT

Antioxidants obtained from vegetables and fruits are mostly of phenolic structure, which may include vitamins, minerals, and polyphenols. Antioxidant minerals, such as iron, zinc, selenium, copper, and manganese, act as cofactor of many antioxidant enzymes, absence of which may certainly disturb the activity of their enzymatic scavenging activity.

OBS

antioxidant: A substance that inhibits oxidation, especially one ... that protects cells from the sometimes damaging effects of oxidation.

Key term(s)
  • anti-oxidant mineral
  • mineral anti-oxidant

French

Domaine(s)
  • Éléments nutritifs (Sciences biologiques)
  • Diététique
OBS

CONT

Green tea extract contains antioxidant compounds, including flavonoids, vitamins and polyphenols such as epigallocatechin-3-gallate(EGCG), which may have antineoplastic properties.

CONT

Green tea extract can be consumed in capsule, liquid, or powder form.

CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Wood Products
DEF

A type of lignocellulosics fractionation based on an organosolvolytic approach.

CONT

Thermomechanical organosolvolytic treatment(TM-S). This technology was inspired by the classical organosolvolytic approaches aiming at delignification... Using a combination of variables(the solubility parameters of the chosen solvent, temperature, reaction time, and shear through homogenizing valves), the hemicelluloses and lignin are solubilised while the cellulose remains as residue. The subsequent separation of the hemicelluloses and lignin can be accomplished by classical chemical engineering techniques, although associations between the polyphenols(lignin) and carbohydrates(hemicelluloses) can interfere during the separation process.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génie chimique
  • Produits du bois
DEF
