Good athletes in all sports have great balance... It's important to keep your eyes, head and body well balanced and have good overall posture. Being off balance forces you to compensate for the body's poor position and results in awkward, ineffective strokes. Resource degradation, loss of biodiversity, land degradation, global climate change, may all serve as examples of the consequences of poor decision making based on inadequate economic analyses. Fortunately, efforts are now being made to understand the factors that generate incorrect decisions and to solve the problems facing the present generation and those to come. The relatively young discipline of environmental economics is an example of the positive efforts in this direction. Environmental economics aims to integrate ethics, ecology and economics in an attempt to define the conditions necessary for achieving sustainable development, i. e., it tries to define for us what constitutes good environmental housekeeping. 3, record 17, English, - environmental%20economics

Snowpack stability information is crucial for assessing the avalanche danger... The forecaster's objective is to detect weak layers, crusts etc. overlain by a potential slab structure, to follow their changes with time, and hence to assess current stability and the probability of slab avalanche release in the near future. Snow cover structure is investigated directly by digging pits and examining the stratigraphy at the exposed wall... All stratigraphy data is graphically represented as a so-called snow profile... The classification into one of five stability classes(from very poor to very good) is partly based on the ram hardness profile. 3, record 27, English, - slab%20structure

At present... the formation of urban land rent is no longer due to the presence of a large central town. On the contrary, the rents are now determined by the position with respect to areas destined for particular uses or to smaller urban areas. It is shown... that the distance from the nearest commercial and/or industrial area influences the selling price. In particular, for plots without buildings the highest values are in the immediate vicinity(Lit 8 148/m² at less than 2 km), while they gradually decrease as the distance increases, almost halving at distances of more than 6 km. The same can be said for distance from the nearest village. The plots furthest away cost almost Lit 18 million/haless than those in the immediate vicinity.... Vicinity to a dump has a greater effect than that of poor access. It is clear that being close to dumps almost totally eliminates the building suitability of the land, at least from an urban residential point of view. This allows the effect of the urban land rent on agricultural land in metropolitan areas to be estimated. If the value of a 2 ha plot of land, sited near an industrial or commercial area and with good access, is estimated with model C to be about Lit 77 million/ha, the value of a plot of the same size situated 9km away, near a dump and accessible by a dirt track or across the end of a field, would be about Lit 28 million/ha. 2, record 30, English, - urban%20land%20rent

In Costa Rica, 95% of the farmers fence with living trees instead of dead posts... Farmers establish living fences by planting large cuttings about 2. 5 m long and 8-20 cm in diameter, attaching several strands of barbed wire to them... Living fences are usually pruned once a year to keep them in good shape and to avoid damage to the wire... Living fences are comparatively cost-effective, need careful establishment and regular maintenance, are long-lived, provide numerous products and benefits besides fencing, are difficult to remove, and are very popular among poor farmers. Dead fences, by contrast, are expensive, require much labor to establish, need some maintenance, are of limited durability, are easy to remove, provide no other products, but are more prestigious than living fences. 3, record 33, English, - live%20fence

Sales-to-assets ratio provides an indication of the general efficiency of an organization, which gives an idea of how the assets are used. This ratio measures the ability of the firm to sell goods with one unit of assets. A high sales-to-assets ratio is generally preferable because it indicates a good ability of the firm to generate sales with a minimum of assets. However, since the indicator is a ratio, a high sales-to-assets ratio could be derived from a small amount of assets. In this case, the firm could be providing poor service to its customers or struggling from inefficient production. Similarly, a low ratio may indicate either lower than normal sales or higher than normal assets. Therefore, we should be cautious when interpreting the sales-to-assets ratio. 1, record 34, English, - sales%2Dto%2Dtotal%20assets%20ratio

A double tempering system is preferable for conditioning prior to milling. Unlike hard red spring wheats, the time required to bring sound, good quality durum to optimum milling condition is only five to six hours. Longer periods cause pigment changes resulting in loss of colour in the semolina and the pasta end product. It should be emphasized, however, that this tempering time may vary depending on the quality of durum wheat. A poor grade containing a high percentage of white grains absorbs moisture quickly and may require no more than three hours tempering time. Durum wheat is usually milled at a moisture content of approximately 16% to yield semolina at 14% moisture content. 1, record 35, English, - double%20tempering%20system

1, record 35, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20%C3%A0%20double%20conditionnement

The zebra(Hippotigris), his name comes from Portuguese zebro that means wild donkey. It lives in open savannas and faintly wooded, grassy steppes, plains and hills. It shares his domain which can cover from 80 to 200 km² with other families. Activity of zebra is diurnal, his cry is enough similar to braying of donkey, his hearing keen, his sight quite good but his smell poor. Burchell zebra eats grasses, some leaves and the bark. A negative discrimination index is most likely to occur with an item that covers complex material written in such a way that it is possible to select the correct response without any real understanding of what is being assessed. A poor student may make a guess, select that response, and come up with the correct answer. Good students may be suspicious of a question that looks too easy, may take the harder path to solving the problem, read too much into the question, and may end up being less successful than those who guess. 1, record 39, English, - negative%20discrimination

Time span is capable of ranking job contents over the whole range from chairman to shop floor, but it is more often used to evaluate jobs in middle and senior management. The procedure is to identify the time span of discretion-i. e. for how long can the incumbent of a job be left alone by his supervisor.... One way of identifying the time span for any job is to consider how long it might be before it became obvious that the present incumbent was either very good or very poor at it. The intentional raising as a mineralized froth of more than one mineral in one operation. 4, record 52, English, - bulk%20flotation
Record number: 52, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Froth flotation was first used to recover sulfide minerals which were too fine to be recovered by gravity concentrators such as jigs, tables, and sluices. These early operations removed all of the sulfide minerals into one concentrate. Although good recoveries were achieved by this bulk flotation, the concentrate grades were poor. As the understanding of the chemistry of flotation improved, better reagents became available and differential flotation became a reality. It became possible, in many cases, to float only the valuable sulfide minerals and leave the unwanted pyrite(fool' s gold) with the gangue. 5, record 52, English, - bulk%20flotation

One country may be absolutely more efficient in the production of every good than is the other country; and this means the other country has an absolute disadvantage in the production of every good. But so long as there are differences in the relative efficiencies of producing the different goods in the two countries, we can always be sure that even the poor country has a comparative advantage in the production of those commodities in which it is relatively most efficient. 1, record 54, English, - relative%20efficiency
