The United Nations Development Program(UNDP) launched the MicroStart programme in February 1997. The purpose of the programme is to build a new generation of microfinance institutions(MFIs) that have transparent track records and solid institutional and financial performance, which enable them to reach poor clients while operating on a sustainable basis. MicroStart also aims to improve the practice of microfinance within the UN system by establishing guidelines, providing technical assistance, and promoting training and learning opportunities that incorporate best practice in the field. The programme has been developed in response to demand from UNDP Country Offices for a practical and operational product to assist them in the delivery of quality programming to a well-defined niche in the evolving field of microfinance. 1, record 23, English, - MicroStart

The plate concept of chromatography is inherited from distillation theory, where originally the more efficient distillation columns actually contained discrete plates. Martin and Synge considered a chromatographic system to be composed of a number of imaginary or theoretical plates. However, the number of theoretical plates that a column appears to contain is a poor measure of chromatographic performance since the number of plates is independent of the system dimensions. 3, record 38, English, - plate%20theory

The second aspect of performance sensitivity is usually distinguished by the name of Propagation Sensitivity, which is a measure of the ability of an explosive to support or reinforce a detonation that has already been created. Since the tendency for the detonation wave to fail or fade increases as the hole diameter is reduced, it has become customary to measure propagation sensitivity by the(minimum) critical diameter of a charge at least six diameters long that will support the detonation process once created. At a point below this value, a detonation wave cannot be consistently propagated, and a misfire... may occur; or otherwise the reaction may be incomplete, resulting in a poor blast effect and significant fume. 1, record 50, English, - propagation%20sensitivity

2, record 50, French, - sensibilit%C3%A9%20%C3%A0%20l%27onde%20explosive
