POOR TRANSMISSION [7 records]

Record 1 2026-03-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Viral Diseases
  • Liver and Biliary Ducts
DEF

A self-limited viral disease of worldwide distribution caused by the hepatitis A virus, which is more prevalent in areas of poor hygiene and low socioeconomic standards, being transmitted almost exclusively by the fecal-oral route, although parenteral transmission is possible...

CONT

Fatigue, fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, darkened urine, and jaundice are some possible symptoms of a hepatitis A infection.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Maladies virales
  • Foie et voies biliaires
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Data Transmission
OBS

Class 10 MNP consists of Adverse Channel Enhancements that optimize performance in environments with poor or varying line quality, such as cellular telephones, international telephone calls, and rural telephone services. These enhancements fall into four categories : 1. Multiple aggressive attempts at link setup. 2. Adapting packet size to accommodate varying levels of interference. 3. Negotiating transmission speed shifts to achieve the maximum acceptable line speed. 4. Dynamically shifting to the modem speed most suitable to transmission line conditions.

OBS

French

Domaine(s)
  • Transmission de données
OBS

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electromagnetic Radiation
  • Metrology and Units of Measure
DEF

The electrical characteristic of a dielectric in relation to the surrounding electrostatic field.

OBS

A dielectric material is a substance that is a poor conductor of electricity, but an efficient supporter of electrostatic fields. Most dielectric materials are solid. Such examples include porcelain(ceramic) mica, glass, plastics, and the oxides of various metals. Liquids and gases can also serve as good dielectric materials : dry air(used in variable capacitors and some types of transmission lines), or a vacuum.

OBS

permittivity: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Rayonnements électromagnétiques
  • Unités de mesure et métrologie
DEF

CONT

Acoustic microscopy is the term applied to high resolution, high frequency ultrasonic inspection techniques which produce images of features beneath the surface of a sample. Because ultrasonic energy requires continuity of materials to propagate, internal defects such as voids, delaminations and cracks interfere with the transmission and/or reflection of ultrasound signals. Since air is a very poor conductor of ultrasound, gaps within or between samples are easily visualized by the localized changes in the ultrasound.
