2, record 1, French, - infection%20polymicrobienne

[The] new Bayesian model estimates the proportion of pups that are unavailable to the survey because they have moved out of the area. The new birth distribution model should be used to refit the complete time series of pup production in order to incorporate it in future assessments. This is the second assessment that has resulted in a significant downward revision in the previous estimate of grey seal abundance. These changes are due to a slowing in the rate of increase in pup production, using a different assessment model, and a new male : female sex ratio. The new model provides a significant downward revision in estimated juvenile survival and indicates that the dynamics of the grey seal population are changing relatively rapidly in a manner that is not well understood. 3, record 4, English, - downward%20revision

The identification of stock structure is a necessary step for the effective management of multistock fisheries. As stocks are reproductively isolated from other members of the population, disregard of individual stock dynamics may alter genetic diversity of a population if one or more stocks are lost due to overexploitation or other causes... The knowledge of individual stock dynamics allows managers to assess fish population stability and set sustainable harvest limits. Monitoring inidividual stock dynamics within a population provides the opportunity to assess differential survival and contribution to the fishery. Once stock structure is uncovered, patterns in stock contribution can be managed by setting up measures to enhance or sustain stocks when annual production is lower than desired. 2, record 7, English, - multistock%20fishery

All catch curves have three regions of interest : an ascending left limb, a domed middle portion, and a descending right limb... The ascending left limb represents age-classes of fish that are not yet fully vulnerable to the gear used in fishery. Fish in these age-classes are said to have "not fully recruited to the fishery.

Aside from normal seasonal and yearly fluctuations in most population levels which must be considered in establishing time boundaries, biological time lags between the imposition of an impact and its ultimate expression in the dynamics of an affected population are of prime importance. For sublethal effects on adults, the period between birth and the age of first reproduction may represent the minimum time lag between perturbation and measurable response in the population. For short-lived and fast-reproducing species, this time lag would be compatible with most assessment time frames. The giant columnar cactus Neobuxbaumia tetetzo(Coulter) Backeberg is the dominant species of a vegetation type locally called "tetechera" that occupies ca. 400 km² in the Tehuacán Valley.... Elasticity analysis showed that survivorship was the most important life-history parameter to the finite rate of increase. Because survivorship depends on the presence of nurse plants, our results emphasise the importance of positive interactions on the population dynamics of long-lived columnar cacti. 2, record 15, English, - companion%20plant

2, record 15, French, - plante%20compagne

Aside from normal seasonal and yearly fluctuations in most population levels which must be considered in establishing time boundaries, biological time lags between the imposition of an impact and its ultimate expression in the dynamics of an affected population are of prime importance. For sublethal effects on adults, the period between birth and the age of first reproduction may represent to the minimum time lag between perturbation and measurable response in the population. For short-lived and fast-reproducing species, this time lag would be compatible with most assessment time frames. However, the time boundary for long-lived and slow-reproducing species may have to be greatly protracted. 1, record 23, English, - sublethal%20effect

Chaos theory is a relatively new field which studies the complicated dynamics that may reside in even very simple mathematical models. Researchers believe that chaos theory offers a mathematical framework for understanding much of the noise and turbulence that is seen in experimental science. Phenomena as diverse as weather patterns, population dynamics, chemical reactions, and laser optics, sport, chaotic features that the theory may shed light on. Even the simple pendulum can be "kicked" into displaying chaotic behavior. 4, record 29, English, - science%20of%20chaos

2, record 29, French, - chaologie

Aside from normal seasonal and yearly fluctuations in most population levels which must be considered in establishing time boundaries, biological time lags between the imposition of an impact and its ultimate expression in the dynamics of an affected population are of prime importance. For sublethal effect on adults, the period between birth and the age of first reproduction may represent to the minimum time lag between perturbation and measurable response in the population. For short-lived and fast-reproducing species, this time lag would be compatible with most assessment time frames. However, the time boundary for long-lived and slow-reproducing species may have to be greatly protracted. 1, record 30, English, - slow%2Dreproducing%20species

The general principles of plant community succession, applied to the species complex in the wetlands and the expected changes in the moisture regime, could be used to predict the future plant community within specified time and space boundaries. Predicting, in any rigorous sense, the effects of the resulting habitat changes on species of concern would be difficult due to the complexity of most species-habitat interactions. Furthermore, it would be unlikely that the effects of the loss of habitat on the longer-term population dynamics of such species could be determined beforehand. 1, record 33, English, - moisture%20regime
