Electrophoretic separation of allelic variants of enzymes(allozymes) has been used to study the population genetics of a wide variety of species for many years. Although electrophoretically-evident variation is only a small portion of the genetic variation of a gene, many enzymes have been shown to exhibit high levels of allozymic variation. More recently, genetic variation at the molecular level [i. e., structural traits of nucleic acids such as DNA(deoxyribonucleic acid) ] has been used in population genetic studies. WeatherAlert is an Environment Canada weather message about impending severe weather that scrolls--or crawls--across the bottom of the television screen. Only severe weather events that are not forecast early enough for announcement on regular television broadcasts will trigger WeatherAlert messages. Test messages for WeatherAlert will be issued in the greater Toronto pilot area for these severe weather events : tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, severe winds, blizzards, heavy freezing rain, heavy snow, heavy rain and snow squalls. The Toronto area was chosen for the pilot because of its size, variety of severe weather, population and its concentration of national broadcasters. 1, record 14, English, - WeatherAlert

1, record 14, French, - Alerte%20M%C3%A9t%C3%A9o

To identify QTLs associated with horticultural yield it is necessary to conduct replicated plot trials of the tested genotypes. The first step in the utilization of an introgression-line(IL) population of Lycopersicon pennellii in a processing-tomato variety(M82) for mapping such QTLs was to screen 51 ILs in a non-replicated plot trial. The results of this survey were compared to those obtained in a replicated trial of the same genotypes grown as single plants at wide spacing. Fruit characteristics were similar between the two stands, but yield was generally different.(From an abstract found in Dialog). 4, record 15, English, - reference%20variety

1, record 16, French, - thrombose%20des%20veines%20r%C3%A9nales
